Hi,

This poll is for Berg owners with e-start bikes.

I'd like to know how often you need to use the kickstarter on your e-start Berg. Do late model e-start bike really need to have a kickstarter fitted, or is it just there to make us feel good?

I guess the question really is, how often does the e-starter fail?

Can you please indicate year and model of your bike too.

Cheers

could do with adding 'only from cold' as i kick start it but once its warm its leccy start every time. though when warm it only needs one kick to get it going as well

All the time, I thought that mine was broke until I found out that the dealer gave me FE stickers instead of FC. Never could find that button.... Then again it has never failed me! Sorry, I couldn't resist

My 00 501 E-starts every time hot or cold.

I prime using the choke and kick start my 04 550 when its cold. I E-start it when its hot.

Hi mOnOman

I use the Leccy Legg only on my '05 FE 550e, only on the day that I put my bike together, and charged the battery quickly, the next day it only turned a few dozen times and went flat, I gave it a deep cycle charge, and since then it has never faultered!

use it consistantly and regularly, i.e. if you do not keep charging and discharging your battery through regular use, it'll give up on you.

Happy ridin'

Azza.

My '05 450 works great as long as the oil is above 10C or so. Colder than that and the sucker will spin over half a turn and then freewheel. Never had a problem in warmer weather.

will have to push start it, if i didn't have a kicker...............but after a couple of minutes of riding......the magic button is awesome......but i have to kick it first thing in the morning!

I have never kick started my 05 450. When not in use I keep it plugged into smart charger. 70 plus hours so far and not a slip or glitch.

e-start when cold - no dice

Always requires a kick to light it up 1st time. The only exception is if I can leave it out in the sun and allow the cases (oil) to warm up, then its happy on the ebutton. No problems once it's warmed up, just when cold - kick it !

RE: e-start when cold - no dice

Mine failed to start once. It was very cold out (for Florida!); mmaybe 45 or 50 degrees. Only time I have ever used the kicker...

RE: e-start when cold - no dice

had to kick start once when ambient temp in garage was 20-25 deg f and i had not started it in 2-3 weeks with no battery tender.

Why not get rid of the battery and start-engine? And get a lighter bike... 8)
The last year i never have kicked more than 1 kick, before it starts (when my valve clearance has been OK!) :thumbright:
