Will do once I get it started. Haven't yet bought the stuff needed as I have other things on the bike that needs be finished first.
This thing seems to eat more money than my previous sport bikes!! I don't even wanna know the price of full Ohlins setup and steering damper...

Brian no I did not have to do anything to the ground.. what is "float the ground mean" anyway. The unit works perfectly right out of the box.. nice and bright.. not a single issue since I installed it.

Peace.. enjoy your unit.. and way to go with the dealer.. sounds like a good dealer taking good care of you

Just an FYI, "floating the ground" means that you are not using the chassis as a ground point. All negative connections would be wired to the negative battery terminal.

I have no idea where you came up with that idea, but it is not accurate, sorry.

With a motorcycle stator, "floating the ground" means converting your stator so it eliminates the "AC" split and outputs (after adding an aftermarket regulator which is also required for the mod) 100% DC power.

This only applied to the previous generation Husabergs with Kokusan stators that output AC for the lights and DC for the battery charging. The theory was that the battery always had it's own DC supply so the battery always had a good charging source. The problem was that the AC power could barely run the lights, and upgraded lighting such as HID lights require DC power. Hence floating the ground was a popular mod.

The 2009 and up Husabergs already outputs only DC power, and is fairly robust. It can handle most lighting upgrades, including the latest HID and LED lights that are available.

Hope this helps clear things up.

Thanks for the good info. Good to know.

That's mighty interesting! If we don't get any wisdom here, we might give Thumper Talk a try.

I'm thinking of taping of the bottom half of the outside glass with some black tape in order to make it less blinding in traffic.

I'm giving up on the cheap factory part. The Husaberg is a great bike, but there is no doubt, their headlamp is not worth the time it takes to unbolt and throw in the trash. I'm purchasing the Trail Tech light this week. I've noticed that Graham Jarvis is using one on his Husaberg now. Maybe, Husaberg should figure this one out. Fortunately, my dealer agreed to credit me the replacement cost of the Husaberg headlamp towards the Trail Tech setup. I appreciated that, but then again, since I purchased the bike, I've bought around $2000 in accessories for it from the same dealer. That probably helps in our relationship and makes them more willing to work with me. But all joking aside, I've only good things to say about the dealer I bought my Husaberg from. So, if you all need to order parts through the mail and live here in the US, I have no problem recommending Cycle Buy out of Eugene Oregon. It is a mostly family run business. Bob is the owner. His daughter or Aaron tend to answer the phone and take the orders, tell them I sent you their way. :D

Trail Tech
I tried all the other options.. halogen bulbs, nothing worked right.
happy with what I have now x2 eclipse with both on at highbeam.

woooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooo I can see finally

I got a TTx2hid from Paul of PW_Garfield tailight fame. He wired it to use the stock switch and have both lights on in high beam. One thing he did for me was wire it so the flood beam is on in low beam. Not sure why TT has it set for spot on low beam?

Well, now that I've figured out how to upload photos here, I'll include a photo of the LED light I went with on my bike. The Vision X Solstice is mounted under the turn signal. This light uses 10 watts of power and provides 900 lumens of light. I wired it to activate with my high beam. I love the light, it has made all the difference in the world. I can now see at night.

I recently ordered a HID conversion kit for the stock bulb from HD Bright that is built specifically for the KTM's and Husabergs. This HD bulb set up uses 35 watts of power, and is listed as 6000K illumination. I'll keep everyone posted on how that works in the stock headlamp housing. I'm hoping it will handle the heat. I've already modified my headlamp so that I can switch the headlamp bulb off when necesary (like when the bike is idling and there is no air moving around the headlamp cooling the plastic lens).
