No spark fe650

Hi

I have recently bought a Husberg fe650 2003 and it doesn't start. I dont't get any spark so i was hoping someone could point out any possible solution to my problem. I don't have much experience with this, so bear with me. Thanks
 
Its more than likely your stator that has failed. These are the test values:

1999 to 2003: Black & Red 3000 Ohms
Black & Green 165 Ohms

Hague, I have the same issue at the moment with mine, I'm planning to test it tomorrow. If there is an issue I will send it off to Taffmister to be refurbished

I am not familiar with ohm testing. I have a multimeter which i have been using for Volt testing. I know it can be used for both, but i am not sure how to use it. You mention the values for black/green and black/red, am i supposed to take one pin on the the black wire and one on the green wire?
 
Yes. Check out You Tube. There are many videos there on how to use a multi-meter and check your stator values..

I get:
black and red: 3030 ohms
Black and green: 178 ohms

That means my stator is fine, right?

What else could it be?

only fit the green to green, red to red and the black to black. nothing else. disconnect the other (spade) black, the grey, the white and the orange. don't let the orange male bullet touch anything.

then try it.

sometimes the gray and the white are the wrong way around. sometimes the orange is always making 'dead'.

finally, your coil may have gone..... (unusual on a SEM stator. it is a SEM (black plastic) stator isn't it? or can you see all the windings and spools of copper wire?

I am not sure that i understand what you mean here. I understand what i should connect and disconnect but what do you mean by try it? What do you mean by orange making dead.

Yes this is sorta gibberish and not correct terminology. Obviously Taffy did not do any schooling lol. So I am guessing that "making dead" means either "short to ground" or "open" I am not sure but its a guess.

Here are the values to test. If I am not correct, someone please correct. I am using KTM values as I understand it to be the same as the Husa during this year as KTM owned Husa from 1995 when they also purchased WP. So here goes.

We have two circuits on the sem one is for spark and one for lighting.

Spark should be Green Black and Red

Second is Charging with a blue and two yellows

your stator should have values below

black and green should be between 158 to 178 Ohm's

black to red should be between 2700 to 3300 Ohm's

blue to yellow/yellow at 1 Ohm

blue and yellow/yellow do not matter for your spark only lighting.

Make sure the orange is not shorting to ground anywhere in the circuit as this is the kill switch and when it is shorted to ground it kills the ignition
system.

I am pretty sure this info is correct as SEM should be SEM :)

PS, Also try disconnecting the Orange if the bike is not apart and ensure it is not shorted to any ground and try turning over and checking spark as this wire is God lol, seen lots of pinched kill switch wires that have caused lots of frustration :)
 
Now thinking into this as I don't know what Taffy was talking about with a grey and white as the stator does not have a grey and white wire. Once again needs to go to school and get educated lmao.

I am thinking he wants you to check the coil/ign module, so ensure the grey is to the grey, orange to orange and white is to blue/white as well black to black. I guess he is saying the grey and white wires can look similar and sometimes get mixed up so ensure your connections are correct.

Check resistance values across black and orange to ensure they are not shorted together somewhere in the harness.

i think i was supposed to check the coil. I have already checked the stator and i think that one is fine. as i don't quite understood what taffy ment i did some checking on the coil. i got 4,5 ohms from Orange to black. i also got 8,27k ohms from black/Orange to spark plug cap. Does anyone know what i am supposed to get?

the orange is the kill wire - for the kill button. so when you disconnect the orange make sure it doesn't lay on the frame or the engine.

the grey to grey and the white to white/blue sometimes get swopped because as the years go by, the grey looks white as well!

remember that a wet plug, a really wet plug won't spark.

Maybe you can find someone on this site who knows the values?? Sorry I cant help with that. Or you can send it to Taffy and get ripped off with shipping and he will probably tell you its bad and sell you a new one then ebay it to another person. LOL

That is a basic analog shematic, Motoplat if I'm not mistaken, the SEM cdi/coil is a lot more complex.

But if you test between the HT lead and the Black earth wire from the coil you should be looking at a resistance of around 3000 Ohms.

Sorry that i haven't been responding for a while. I haven't been home so i didn't get to do any tests. If you by HT mean the plug cap wire then i have 3000 ohms there. I have bought a new plug and a new plug cap and still i got no spark... Hope you guys still have some tips left

Cdi and coils and rotor.
Check em. (dno IF I got this right in english) basicly follow ur way all The way from turning key to The spark plug
