There are actually a few official Berg dealers in Unzed, but when I was looking for parts, it was pretty scary.
Called in to see a couple, and rang some others. They did not really know what I was talking about, and the prices were, ummm, high. Think more than twice what I could import for.

My local KTM dealer sells me parts if I give them the ktm part number, but they tell me they need to get the berg parts for somewhere else. They cannot get them direct from Husaberg NZ. But I have not checked their prices let alone delivery times.

Nigel is a good guy, and would have the best knowledge of the bikes etc, but he is not listed as a rep any longer (on the berg site). He told me he could still get parts though. Best bet by far in my book. No substitute for knowledge of the bikes.

That is why I ended up getting my parts from Taffy :D
Knew exactly what I was talking about, and good advice. I will always pay a premium for that. It is cheaper in the long run.

Howsit Cheesy bro? I'm ina sunny (it is acctually for a change) Bay Of Islands bro. I gotta berg to bro. Got sum twisty windy gravel an seal out the back door bro. Had to put the berg on the road aye cuz coz the paddocks just ain't big enuff for 650cc of berg. Anyhoo........ wots up bro?

Big Welcome, cheeseberger,I'm South Island Christchurch...There is a husaberg dealership here, and bikes to demo ride. The weather has been pretty kind lately there is normally snow down by now so make the most of it. The water temp will make your 2 fruits run for the hills..but mainly beach breaks around CHCH.
rogerhnz is right KTM and dealerships carry little or no stock and order most parts straight from Austria. So having an option to get parts/tech through taffy and the UHE is a winner

Tommorrow night the KIWI Rugby League team should be goneski! Smashed by the Ozzies :D

I see the exchange rate is in my favour at the mo..... wots the time line for delivery's from U.K. ?
Are single valve springs bad in general or is it just the pre 03 that need the DVSK upgrade?
Is there a workshop in NewZealand that has experiance with berg cranks and aliegning crankcases?

Nothing wrong with single valve springs, but when I was looking at the engine I did recently, I noticed how hard it was to turn the engine over by hand. The valve gear requires a lot of force to overcome the springs. When I took them out, those springs were hard! Measured the seat pressure, and I don't remember the exact pressure, but 80 or 90 pounds comes to memory. The double spring ones are much less, say about 2/3 of that???

Forgive my memory. Senior moments and all. I just figured that the lower seat pressure was less stress on everything, which seemed like a good idea to me.

I got a guy here in Hamilton to measure stuff up, and press stuff apart etc. He was pretty good. Talk to Gus at the engine shop, in Norton rd here in Hamilton. I suspect you should not get him started on Ducatis. Pictures all over the walls..... We managed to get my crank pretty straight again. Within a thou all round. Make sure your end float is good. I may be paranoid, but I am going to check mine at each oil change. Point 45 mm after assembly for my 2005 450 FE.

Good luck, and let me know if you need any other info / help. The doc on the home page is priceless. Read it several times.

well those conical single springs are simply bad news for the engine i'm afraid. they phuq everything up. valve seats tulip, valves sink, cams wear, followers wear out, valve stems dome, tappet pads mushroom, cam chains shag out in hours.

truly dreadful and the fact is the DVSK don't get valve bounce while the OEMs do!

that's what I call adding insult to injury!

If you don't like conical singe valve springs Taffy, just say so.No need to beat around the bush! :D

Whats with Hamilton anyway, everytime I need to pass through that town I always seem to get on the wrong road.
I think it must be the twilight zone...
I met a fellow, Murray Delacy(MDL racing) from there, ever give him a try?

Never thought to try Murray. I have not had anything to do with him, but I would think he would be OK. I have heard he is pretty good at what he does. I normally associate him with road racing for some reason, but I don't think I have even seen his shop.

With taking the wrong road, that is possibly a good thing. Not much to see here, and bypassing it is not a bad plan. NZ has much more interesting places to visit, and I am fortunate enough to travel to the other places fairly often. So yep, kinda like the twilight zone :D

Yer i been looking around this site for a few years..... Owners docs are a bit scary...... all the things i should change an all. I have printed them off to become part of the rebuild bible.
I have never met Murrey but have heard of him over the years (and watched him race) so i shall make contact. I wanted to use somebody that has some experiance of berg cranks so they learn on my crank (with obviouse potential costs etc involved) I have been useing Ginger Molloy for crank rebuilds for years and would recommend him happily, just thort there may be an enthusiest out there somewhwere that nows all about them.
Valve springs are obviously a touchy point around here.... Taffy is quiet right, less is more when it comes to seat pressure as long as there is enough!
Are alot of the wear problems (breakages) ie bearings cam chains etc caused through high revs (people take it personal when i say overrev).? I hear alot of riders (in general offroading) using the revlimiter as the change up point. Revs kill motors. My 04 650 has done 145hrs and 10500kms with no reliability problems (except battery) which i thought for a production race motor was damned impressive. previouse cam chain problems with other motors i have owned where when i revved them hard. 650 has torque not HP so no need to rev the rings off them. Well thats my theory anyway. Thrashed big yella around Taupo road race track for a day.... humiliated lotsa bigger bikes.... but now my motor is in pieces. All good things must come to an end....... only to be reserected better.

Taffybro... do you send parts by air or ship? will it take a day or a month for parts to arrive (approx time frame)
Whats the best way to do bussines..... if possable can i send you a list of what i think i need and why and hopefully you will then direct me in the right direction. Cheers in expectation.....

everything is airmail nowadays I think. 80% of my business is international. I think they are 10 good days and occasionally longer. send a list and i'll have a look, price it up as well.

use an email please.
