Just picked up an '11 FE 450, 468 miles, 28 hours. From a local dealer. This is my 2nd 450 and parobalby 8th or so KTM / Husky. Its been a few years so my info is a bit foggy but trying to resolve a couple of things.

Ignition map switch, these all had multiple maps loaded correct, and I can run a trailtech or similar switch to unlock different ignition maps. Im having a bit of trouble wading through the info. Is there a more aggressive ign map than stock? It sems Ive read that the wild switch is just stock from some reading.

If I want to do a slip-on are these lean from the factory? Can I do the old KTM TPMS trick? Does anyone even flash these ECU's with the euro map still?

I bought a 2011 FE570s new in 2012, a leftover. Love this bike, don’t ride it often enough. I ride National Forest roads in north Alabama, sandy with gravel.
I read a lot about it regarding problems & mods to do.
-I had the dealership do the remapping, it was running too lean, backfiring.
-I removed the emissions crap. Installed a FMF silencer, “will breath better, run cooler”.
-I was having a problem with it quitting on me, like running out of gas. It happened to me twice, within a mile of each other.
Each time it happened, I pushed it off the road into the woods, laid it down, & hitched a ride back to the parking area. The 2nd time it happened, I tried starting it before pushing it to my trailer, it started up no problem. Vacuum problem maybe.
I removed the gas cap “ball” valve, problem hasn’t happened since.??
-It does run hot in summertime, but I ride mostly in fall & winter. Might try some “Ice” coolant.
-Had to replace the fuel pump, I let it sit up for too long, due to health, but I cranked it often. I used a Quantum fuel pump, no problems. Also use Quantum in my Vstrom 650.
-I installed an easily accessible inline fuel filter assembly, 2015 KTM 500. This moves the filter from the injector, to just below the tank, or where ever is easiest access.
-Rear fender to close to tire. Used a heat gun to bend the fender up an away from tire. A buddy of mine, his 570s ate the rear fender.
 
Regarding the mapping switch, hadn’t thought about this for the 570. I installed one on my 2007 KTM 300xcw years ago. I could use one on the 570, tone down it’s snappy power for my old arse.😂
 
I have a Trailtech switch on my '12 570, can't tell the difference. 450 may be a bit noticeable, but when I woked in a KTM/ 'Berg shop back in the day, customers complained about the lack of noticeable difference. Get it mapped at a shop after fitting a real muffler, check valve clearances, make sure the air filter isn't disintegrating, check filter in tank, run Engine Ice or similar, ride and enjoy fo a long time. They are a good thing, equal of modern stuff, almost, with the right set up.
 
I raced a 570 for 4 years and won a couple of (age related) classes in championships with it. I had mild, normal and wild. and I kept it in Mild all the time I had it. I didn't deviate even for one ride.
