Need Spring Rate Suggestions

I'm helping a friend set up his 'berg. It's a 2000 501 that he's using in the woods. He weighs 220#, 240# w/gear. Currently has stock ?? springs up front and a PDS-2 in the rear. Choosing the fork springs should be no problem, but...

1. Anyone know the stock fork spring rate?

2. What's recommended for the rear if we want to stay with a progressive spring?

Thanks.

1) unsure of stock, but sure he needs a .46kg/mm or higher.

2)PDS 4 or race-tech #25

The highest, which is a PDS 8 or 9

Hi,

Splat you´re right.
Stock is 0.42 for the fork.
A PDS 3 or 4 should be ok for the rear setup.
Take the original one from the FC.

I also weigh round about 220 or more lbs and know what I´m
talking about.
Now I got 0.46 springs in my fork and I´m not sure if this is the
right rate for me, cos the front part of my bike doesn´t work fine
enough for what I was expecting from. My fork is not working sensitive, like before and the front wheel needs more weigh for riding through corners.
And you can believe me, sorry I must say that: I´m riding hard.
The best undercarriage I rode was a FC 550 of a friend of mine
modified with enduro springs (0.42) in the fork and no mod in the PDS.
The FC suspension has got a better set up. Original FC springs were
0.46. And I would definetly not change to a higher rate.
But about suspension is always not too easy to discuss. It has to do a lot with personal predilection.
