I had a kickshaft broken on my FC550-03. Get a new one, but the design
was different. The splines are shorter on the new one. Had to do some modifications (grinding) on the lever.

But after that the bike was very hard to start. All of a sudden a watched the Husaberg Maintenance video.
I noticed that the kick starter should be taken backwards to rest on a plastic/rubber stop on the transmission cover.
Had never done that before!!

Checked my bike and found that I had mounted the kickstarter in an upright position. But thats wrooong.
Changed the position to a more forward angel. I also mounted a plastic stop in the transmision cover.

Now it starts very easy. Looks like the decomp system isn't working properly with straight upright pos.

My Swedish Love Muscle is alive and Well.

It is time for the Update that everybody is waiting for.

My 2002 Fe650e is now running. And first and foremost I would like to thank Brett Saunders for getting involved and Husaberg coming through with updating my bike. The counterbalancer and rocker arms were updated and the bike starts easier than ever. The wife also stated that the bike is making less noise than previously. Obviously there was something going on in that motor. Husaberg even warranted the previous broken kick starter. Wow. it now sounds like a company that wants to build a positive customer base. I can now recommend a Husaberg again. If only I could swing a new 550. That would be cool. With the Husaberg's Warranty going up to one year and the improvements in reliability, I feel, Husaberg is getting back on the right track.

Has anybody gotten any solid results with the starter mod of placing a newer starter on the '02 model 650?

Is it working better than stock?
Happy in the saddle again. Now we need to get our local riding areas open again.

Congrats, geekmo, glad to hear you got help from Brett and husaberg. Nothing like a good running husaberg to improve one's disposition....
