I just wanted to say something about everyone's worry about battery life. Shane Cuthbertson rode an 09 in Romaniacs in mid September. There was a fan mounted on the bike, and it was used, as they had to dirt saw thier way up many, many hills. The batter never went dead, NEVER. Once they got home, and analyzed the event, they realized that the bike is very solid, no overheating and battery life is solid.

No worries there fellas, at all.

Congrats and good luck with the '09.They seem to have been well received by all who
have had a chance to ride them.
I'm just curious if in the states with the strengtening dollar what that'll hold for the
retail pricing going forward? If Mother KTM mid year raised the pricing on KTMs because of
the weak dollar last year shouldn't there be a reversal in the other direction due to
the current economics?

Unlikely. Rumour has it that KTM NA actually lost money or just broke even on most bikes since 2006. The US $ has only gone up in the last few weeks and it can go down just as quick.

The current state of the US economy has not changed. The rise of the US dollar is said to be related to a currency supply problem on many fronts and is not a refection of a stronger economic situation.
Those economists that pretend to know what is instore in the near future all say that there will be substancial inflationary pressures to offset any US currency gain.

On a more positive note we recd and uncrated the first (for us) new 09 Fe450e,What a bike! The fit and finish is a giant step up and the bike came with fuel in the tank and all the levels perfect.Just assemble the cycle parts connect the wire harness plug under the seat, hit the button and it starts and runs instantly and perfectly.Very NICE.
The tool for removing the exhaust screen is in the tool kit...along with the mandatory bottle opener. :D
My sales guy and tech could not resist a short test ride even in a down pour.both were wowed.

The Bridgestone M403 front and 404 rear might even be a better combo. I got em on my CRF450. The ultimate traction at extreem lean agles. I'm even thinking about trying them on my 05 650, but im loving the wear on my Michelin desert front for dual sport use.

anyone know what the MSO states for these new 09's?

I want to know if they can be plated in the states.

cheers

We dont get MSOs in Canada. Our paperwork does NOT say not for highway use on it though. I am going to try and get a plate for mine today.

About that rear 402 tire. Would that be the 110/100/18? Thats the biggest I see for 18 wheels.

Plastic, maybe 4mm thick like some of the bashplates in KTM powerparts.Seems to work fine so far for me,the ground clearance is great and the lower parts of the engine is narrow.Just put some foam between the plate and the engine.

where did you buy it from? Is it a Husaberg part or aftermarket?

Thanks

The 09's come stock with a plastic skid plate that offers some protection. Not enough for my taste.
