Hello all, new member new berg owner looking for must do mods. Have had my 08 Fe650 for about 2 weeks now so its time to start with the addons.

First of all is there any point in buying the insanely priced akrapovic exhaust/full system ? A thumpermechanic ive spoken to says that there are better cheaper options alltho not with bolt on fit.

Pretty happy with the suspension setup but might go for new springs (not sure thats the word im looking for ) later on that match my weight better.

Basically im wondering what must do mods are there for the 650 ? Must do beeing fairly simple changes that make it a nicer bike to ride.

Regards
Happy berg owner SNAiL.

Hey snail,
1st- Where are ya from and what riding do you do?
2nd- What's wrong with the stock exhaust?

Some stuff I did here:

and some discussion here:

My most recent update has been the seat. Took the standard seat and apart and added the original foam from my old 501 to the top of it after some careful grinding/sanding and cutting. Its now a bit wider and 2" taller than stock. Much easier again on my dodgy knees than the factory high and the extra width improves the tranistion to the wide tank and makes it easier to grip with the legs.

I run the stock exhaust with a cheap endcap mod, I guess its like steves but doesn't look as pretty

others have put a 47mm perforated tube straight through the middle of the stock can.

you can get endcaps for about $200 that do a similar job.

I have tried an Akra slipon but i didn't like what it did to the power delivery and everytime I crashed the blooday thing got ripped off

like steve i think the must dos are suspension and jetting

my 08 is a real solid bike. it really doesn't need anything. i would love a skid plate but i just haven't wanted to spend the money on it yet. any other money that i would put into the bike would go for tuning the suspension. beyond that, i would just set the bike up so that it's comfortable for you and your riding conditions. you should try different gearing, set your sag and suspension settings, set your bars up so they feel comfortable etc. the bike puts out more than enough power so i wouldn't waste money on the akro headers. mine came with the akro tailpipe.

Hey berger im from sweden and i do all kinds of riding from going to the store to some pretty tight rocky enduro some fast wider trails/gravel roads and every now and then a lap or two on the mx track. Basically if it looks fun il try it.

Steve il have a look.
Btw has anyone seen some smart solution to the smallish gastank ? would be a huge + if i could get say 1/2 to 1 gallon extra (2-4liters)

Bushmecanic that sounds great then il opt for a cheap slip-on instead.

Murakami mine came with the larger skidplate and the powerparts fan thingy (dont know the english word for it) But i would love some more power guess im one of those cant have enough power types.

They make a 3/4 gallon tank that goes under the seat. I don't know if you can still buy them. Once and awhile you will see one for sale in the classifieds here or on ebay.
I have a picture of one in my gallery.

I recommed either a Lineaweaver jet kit or one of Taffys kit.

just watch the crangk gear nut, retighten that, valve springs are dodgy. jetting, you can tickle that up.

otherwise, the last of the line was a nice bike.

if froggy was here he would tell ya to bling it up!

regards

Taffy
