Hi
I'm living in Sydney, Australia and need to find a trustworty and competent engine rebuilder for my 1998 FE600E. The electric start needs sorting as well and I know that can increase cost a little due to replacement items. I hope someone can offer a suitable referal as efforts to engage dealers so far have resulted a poor reply.
Cheers

G'Day BigKev,
The bloke who knows all things Berg is John Prior at Orange Motorcycle Service Centre. Contact him on 0263603800. He is the guy who invented the fix for the dreaded water pump oil leak ! He has raced Bergs for years and rebuilt heaps of them so he has the runs on the board. Many guys on this site have had their engines rebuilt by John.
Cheers
Garry.

Thanks Gary. Will follow up this week and let you know.
Cheers.

If John is too busy to fit you in the boys at Valley Force Husaberg at Lilydale in Melbourne are very good too.

I agree, Richie Nyhouse is the best Berg engine mechanic in Australia bar none, with his guidance we have had 8 out of 8 FE650's finish the Australian Safari over the last 3 years with no issues and only routine maintaince, one 5th outright 2009 and another 8th 2007 !

G'Day Roosta,
The 08 and earlier Bergs had a small issue with seal on the pump drive shaft leaking engine oil past after several hours. Some folks got 2 hours before they leaked and others got 20 hours ! The leaking oil starts to run out of the weep hole at the front of the water pump housing. Not a big problem as a little bit of oil goes a long way, but it doesn't look to good. Most people get a bit nervous when there is oil leaking out of the engine when there is only 1 litre to start with. John developed a new bearing carrier and seal to solve the problem. I believe he is working on Mark II of the fix. Call him for the details or check it out on the website. http://www.orangektm.com/?id=2810
Cheers :D
Garry.

Thanks for the link Garry :)

Ive changed the seal and the o-ring a couple of times. The last I changed the single o-ring for 2 thinner ones and that seems to be working well (18 months) with no leaks since.

This is a top site
