I am looking to buy a R&D easy access mixture screw. Anybody using one? Are they made well or is the needle part cheap? I dont want to mess up my carb with bits of aluminum.

I have them on my 501, with Mk1 FCR, and 650 with no issues to date and have ordered one for the FCR I'm about to adapt to my DR650, which now has WP/Ohlins suspension too.

The two things I particularly like are that they are really easily accessed, obviously, and that due to the bend in the flex shaft they absolutely will not self adjust.

+2 on the R&D for the FCR.

If I remember correctly, the "needle part" is brass not aluminum (don't have the bike or carb anymore). I did buy an aluminum fuel screw before I bought the R&D and it was not machine correctly and caused me some fits until I figured that out.

I have one on a bike it fits well and works great. The knob fell out wire frame at the 50 hours and the screw that came with it for the float bowl was bit too short, It loosen up on me a couple times before I got little longer one.

hello i had the extended mixture screw on my 06 when i bought it but found that i could only get one finger on the knob and found it very hard to turn and burned my hand on the exhaust owch. i put a standard back in and bought a right angle screwdriver instead i found this works much better.

I run mine out the RHS where there is no exhaust.

ah i take it from that there are different types mine was just a red anodised job about 20mm or so longer than standard with a tap like handle it worked but only just

So I may have misunderstood the question, I have been referring to an R&D Flexjet:

There are heaps of different straight, extended fuel screws, of varying quality available. I have 3 R&D Flexjets and all good. I have also fitted a couple to mates bikes with no problems either.
