For all you fans of Xtreme Enduro, Jeff Pakosta and Throttle Entertainment recently released "Man and Machine", which is a complilation of the big 5 events as well as fresh events in Portugal and Xtinction here in Canada. It is a great piece that highlights the best of all events and emphasizes how great the sport of Xtreme Enduro really is.

www.throttleentertainment.com is where you can get it....don't miss out!!!

I purchased mine a couple weeks ago and really really enjoyed it. I just hope they start to release these faster! This vid is of the 2010 season.

I'm pretty sure that Throttle has had the 2010 season individual event dvds out for sometime. This is a complilation piece that highlights the sport of Xtreme Enduro and its athletes...not as much raw action, but an introduction to the sport.

If you like Xtreme Enduro action, wait till they get Enduro Kings on air...its going to be spectacular!!!

They actually don't.

Romaniacs is the only vid that came out for 2010.

I watched the film the other night and its OK.

I dont really get the "extreme enduro" thing tho, they all seem like retired trials riders or regular enduro riders who are to slow for the real races..... "one guy said extreme is bigger than the EWC"! in your dreams!"

I would think any of the regular top EWC, GNCC, WORCS etc. riders could do most of the stuff and would be faster on the easier sections inbetween.

The EWC guys used to be regular attendees to events like Romaniacs and Erzberg, Juha, Tarkalla, etc all competed and finished very well but since the attendance of the speciallists..not so much.

As far as prestige, the EWC is bigger, definitly, but..there is no EWC event that gets the spectator draw that Erzberg gets, moto would compare. Its just a different style of racing, better..for some yes, others, LOL, not so much!! It is fun to watch and a hoot to ride unless you are bleeding :?

humm, should I react on Leotech's ignorance or not.
nah, better not, just ignore like the rest does.

Great dvd but like all throttle ent dvds they need to show less interviews and more riding they also need to cut the hype out and let the riding speak for its self. Also shoulbe an yearly release so ppl can follow the differant events, if duke can do it for trials then im sure extreme enduro can be covered

I dont understand what you mean by my ignorance? Maybe you dont agree but I dont consider my post ignorant.

I watched the film, personally i find the EWC far more compelling than Extreme races.

going slightly off topic but watched a round of the indoor enduro world cup the other day on tv and after 15 minutes switched it off as to be honest it was just boring.

i'e also been to one of the events and its pretty much the same live.

the top few chaps blast around in the same order that they got thru the first corner in, overtakes usually only happen if the person in front makes a mistake, and the rest are just trying to get around and not get in the way.

Leotech,

of course you can have your opinion,
Of course I should have stfu but your remark was so negative. "retired trials riders", "too slow for the real races"
Let people have their fun and don't be patronising about it.

I am completely wrong, you are correct.

Graham Jarvis has never ridden in trials and Chris Birch has been World enduro champion 15 times. :D

yes, that is pretty much the answer I expected from you. that's also why I normally don't react on these things, i learned my leason, you win.

All the best to you, happy riding.

Surely there is room in the world for us fans to enjoy both EWC and extreme enduro events?! It wasn't that long ago that you could only learn of race results through Cycle News. I'm certainly not going to complain about having the chance to see terrific coverage of Erzberg, Romaniacs, AND EWC. It's all great.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you "don't get" extreme enduro. For me, watching the skills of those riders is incredible and inspiring. I don't know how the EWC riders would fare if they attended, but I also couldn't give a ****. Is World Superbike not a great series to watch, even though there's generally better riders in MotoGP? Enjoy it on its own merit.

I'll be attending Xtinction in Drumheller this summer, as that's just about an hour from me. Can't wait to see Graham on the Husaberg!

I am sorry I started this now,

The film was Ok, I appreciate the skills involved etc, I enjoy watching the events to a degree but what I dont get is why 1,400 people enter Erzberg to wreck themselves and their bikes when only 10 finish.

Hi Leotech,

I can understand that you see it that way (1400 - 10 making it) about Erzberg but I can't explain it. for me its the feeling of being part of it & trying it. The circus around it, the prologue. there are lots of carnavalesq riders in the prologue. They only subsrcibe to the prologue.
I did it in 2009, made it into the race and only came to the 5th check point but I had the time of my life.
got a starting number for 2010 & 2011 but funds (well, lack of) made me bail out last minute.
The thing with Erzberg is the mix of the party & prologue and the real race. Many can go fast on a wide gravel road but never climbed a steep hill before. But that's great for the spectators
Erzberg is pretty uniq between the rest of the races in the competition (yes, there's an official serie of races now)

But I do understand your point of only 10 (actually, in averge its 20 but that is just accademic) of 500 make it in general.
But than again, these things shouldn't be a walk-in-the-park.
For me personally I have no other goal than to enjoy. I am not going for number one (hell, Im 55!)
We don't have a proper MX track nearby but I would enjoy to learn to jump. I also enjoy watching the EWC. Actually, I am organizing a visit to the Portuguese round 4 in May. The Monday after the race we're gonna ride the enire track and specials. And then back home in two days: 400 km all off-road.

If I had the chance I would also like to try trail & improve my skills but again, no time/money.
instead I go out with some friends and do gnarly stuff (as our american friends say) on our Bergs/KTMs. And sometimes there are small local races with only 20-25 competitors. the good side of that is that I always come home with a price (3rd, 2nd or 1st Senior out of three  )

hope I could explain a little what I like about extreme enduro.

cheers,
Adrian

You raced Erzberg! Wow! I have tremendous respect for that. What a feat to take that on. Good for you!

Btw - no slight intended Leo!
