sittingbourne kent uk
Hi there I'm new here and this is my first post so first off hello to everyone !

Im looking to buy a 650 supermoto I have a budget of around 1800- 2000 . I have just sold my urban tiger fireblade to fund this , I have a son due next week and the blade was just to fast top end to keep , but i want something fun to ride in a different way to the blade .

After much research and talking to someone I met Ive decided i want a berg over a husky ktm etc . So if anyone has one for sale in my price range and not stooopid distances from sittingbourne kent please get in contact .

Also could someone give me an idea of rebuild costs as the first guy i spoke to blew his up to the sum of Ł1300. Not a route I want to go down . My bikes get pampered and will be serviced as required no ifs no buts . Im a car mechanic to which is handy !

Hi Craih-e-h, welcome to the site, sorry not got a bike for sale myself, but know a guy who usually has a few. Only issue is he's 271 miles away... which is about 4 hrs drive according to Google maps. If that's doable, then I recommend checking out the second hand bikes on the site, and then giving him a call to discuss what’s in etc. I've found him to be fair priced and he has a wealth of experience with the brand. Check out the following site, names Dave Clarke; http://www.daveclarkeracing.com/

On the servicing side, this is a MUST as you've already recognised. Important to keep the running hours within guidelines between oil changes, or oil/filter changes. Doesn't take 5 minutes & I quite enjoy tinkering with the bike anyway.

On re-build charges, I guess it's dependant on the extent of renewals. I'm sure one of the others can advise, as we have mechanics & business owners etc on here that can advise on the costs.

Hope you enjoy the site.

try and get the cleanest example you can. also get a genuine FS and not a converted FE. get the gearing so that 6th is an overdrivew which will help save the engine.

for £2k you can just about afford an '04 or an '03 blinged up. this is the split year with the pre '04s having various tasks that need doing. the '04s atre reliable beasts with just the mains being of some small concern.

a rebuild will cost you in parts around £700 i would think. most parts are listed in the doc on the left of your screen.

a blown engine costs £1,300 and can run to £1,800 for "truly smacked". so best to get in there early! when done they are a great bike.

Oh, & by the way, do get a Hussa FS650E supermoto, they are phukin fantastic bikes & whip the *** of the more "road developed" heavy supermotos on the market!! These things require a bit of TLC, but they pay you back with competition performance, great looks & a very light & nimble machine. Superb, highly recommended!!

im really looking forward to getting it . Im not remotely interested in the jap offerings there not really supermotos i dont feel . It really needs to be a balls out loon tool especially as im coming from a fireblade. spoke to dave clarke but there all sold out . just gotta keep searching i guess ! cheers for the advice guys

Hey Craig-e-h, welcome to UHE. I've only had my 08 FS650 for 2 weeks & am loving it. All my mates have got the big road bikes but it sure gets the juices going out braking them into the corners & straight into a wheelstand on the way out. My biggest hurdle is getting the suspension setup right being used to the FE550. Just got to do more research in the owners doc & posts. You definately wont be disappointed no matter what model you get I would say. Good luck with the search & keep us posted.

why o why when the blade was for sale there were loads for sale but now its dry as a bone ! still it can wait until the right one crops up,. our little boy was born yesterday so im gonna be to much of a busy bunny to be riding ! ill let him off though as he's so bloody cute !

well i hate to say it but i got impatient and a husky 610 race bike came up for really good money . it cost me 1500 with a spare set of excel/talon rims which im selling to fund getting a lighting kit for it . its been tuned by hm racing and has had money thrown at it . I will still get a berg at some point but this husky was to good to pass up .

for that kinda money ,i wouldn't doubt either :) but eventually you'll end up with a berg too :p

have fun with it!

ill get a berg one day no doubt but there just didnt seem any suitable ones for sale at the minute . I sold the wheels for 350 which means the bike cost me 1150 which is to much of a bargain !
