Looking at buying an 05 Husabeg FC 450...

Hey Guys. I found a great deal on a mint 05 Husaberg FC 450 and I just have a few questions.

I am completely new to Bergs. I have owned KTM's in the past. My last bike was a KTM 525, until it was stolen!

Do you think I would notice, and dislike the less power of the FC 450? Or does it have a pretty powerful motor?

Its been really hard to find info and reviews on the bike. So any info or personal experiences would be great to know.

I am also curious what the aftermarket world is like. I would probably want to add lights, a couple gears, perhaps a quieter FMF exhaust, and maybe new graphics. Just wondering if it is pretty difficult to find aftermarket parts or not.

Thanks,
Jake

Interesting....not many FC450's around. Good bike, but if your like me, once you ride the big bores it's hard to be satisfied with the mini bikes.
You sure it has a 4 speed? I think most probably came with a 6 speed, I know thw FC550's did.
Aftermarket stuff is available as far as armor and such. Lights are a good question, prior to 04 lights were not a problem because the SEM ignitions all had lighting coils (including the FC's). Not sure about the Kokosan ignition.
If your going to trail ride it, you should probably stick with an FE. Lot's of good deals out there now.

The power is torquey but soft on the bottom, no violent hit here, due to the under square 100mm bore x 57mm stroke motor. It will rev fast when nailed and feels like it has very little flywheel effect but does not easily stall. Its an interesting motor.

As Ken said you may not be satisfied with the power, its very smooth and lacks a hit anywhere in the power band. It makes for a great trail bike though.

The suspension is pretty good right out of the box and does not need a revalve to make it acceptable.

It turns quickly compared to a 2001-2003 model and almost feels like it will headshake but stops there.

I would get the FE instead of the FC as it already has lights and a good e-start system.

An FE550, 2005-2008, may be more to your liking. I would try to ride both of them before deciding.

The 05's are very reliable and easy to work on.

i have the same bike and love it, great on the trails and fast as heck on the track. parts are easily available at the husaberg dealer but not a lot of after market stuff where i am. 2 things i dont like about it is, no cooling fan and the 4 gears but its not very often i look for the 5 gear. loads of go and never a problem, just keep on top of maintenance. good luck on your decision.

Whether or not you'll miss the power of the 525 is primarily dependent on where you ride. If you ride tight stuff at lower elevation, you'll almost certainy find the 450 Husaberg to be much faster.

If you ride wide open stuff, especially at higher elevations, then you may well miss the power.

Also, if you were consistently using all the power of that Katoom, then you might miss it. Having said that, not many riders can really make use of the power of the big bores...again unless you're out in the open or at high elevations.

Hey There
I think you will miss the power. I just bought a brand new 2008 Fe650 for under 5200$. I know where there are more, 3 I think, and a brand new 2008 Fe550 for the same price. Dont know how cheap the FC is, but maybe worth considering.

Good Luck
