Oh wow I always thought this had to be the craziest type of racing after ice track racing (motorcycle that is).

I like crazy. How do you get into this?

A willingness to travel, live on next to nothing and a strong desire to be a part of something which is truly magnificent.

Willing to take a few knocks as demonstrated by reigning champion Chris Carr and National #89 Kevin Varnes.

Note: The orange bike being run over by the Suzuki is indeed a KTM.

If the AMA proceeds with the single cylinder national flat track championship, what is the chance for a well funded and managed Husaberg team to achieve success?.

 "Well Funded"

You used "well funded" and "Husaberg" in the same sentence.

On more than one occasion Husaberg has been presented the opportunity to have the very best aboard their equipment. Lack of a realistic budget always gets in the way.

Respectfully,
Dale

PS
The split championship is a done deal.

:D Being somewhat familiar with your feelings on this particular funding matter, perhaps I should have chosen my words more carefully. What I meant to say was.. what is the possibility that a husaberg powered flat tracker could win the new(done deal) :D single cylinder national championship? ie... could it win against the other 450's with a comparable budget.

Such is certainly a possibility.

PS
The AMA Proposal is an actual proposal in theory only. Trust me, the deal is already done.

As a matter of interest only,in your professional opinion how much funding would be required to get a Husaberg under the lights at the daytona short track next march?

Off the record and starting from scratch:

To make the program: $35K.

To make the main event: $50k.

To truly have a shot @ winning: 60K with a rider / tuner incentive matching that of the podium payoff.

Dale

PS
Keep in mind you need a pilot akin to Jake Johnson, Henry Wiles, etc. to put a Husaberg on the box @ Daytona.

So... I am thinking that with the help of the Husaberg Distribution network and approx 200 members of this site making modest investments of $150. there could be arranged a Daytona 2006 Husaberg owners meeting culminating with tickets to the short track, and hopefully watching a berg in the show.I am fully aware that racing of any kind is anything but predictable....but with everyone sporting cool Husaberg Flat track supporters jackets...it would just be the icing on the cake anyway.
....is 24 wks enough time .

Many GNC regulars will have contractual obligations preventing them from riding anything other than their full season equipment. (ie Kopp / KTM, Johnson / Suzuki, etc.) Still, a wild card such as Dan Stanley is more than capable of putting a Husaberg on the box. Last weekend Dan put an Aprilia in the main @ Duquoin.

Given proper funding, delivering a GNC level Husaberg for Daytona is doable. Hiring a top level GNC expert to ride "Daytona only" is another issue hence my suggestion of matching the podium payout. Such an offer would certainly get the attention of some very capable talent.

Hope this has answered your question.

Sincerely,
Dale

Thanks again for your response and professional insight....always a pleasure....nsman

But Husabergs have the Exhausts on the wrong
side for a flatracker!
Flatrack always gets the short end of the stick
for TV coverage. That needs to be fixed before
companies will put any real money into a race
program. My brother was a profesional in the
AMA in the 70s.Sponsorship money was hard to
come by then,I doubt if it is any easier now.

PS
Tim, in my opinion your avitar image is in poor taste regarding
this website. Hey, but what do I know. :?

I don't want to highjack this trhead, but I agree with Dale regarding the inappropriateness of the avitar. There is a fellow at TT with jiggling mammory glands and many avitars on the Aprillia forum that are unacceptable. I hesitate to open those sites at work because they border on violating the computer policies, and I sure don't want to see them at home when my 5 yr old daughter is with while I surf forums! Put a photo of your 380 in the avitar please.

sorry :(

Hi TM and Dale,

Sorry I didn't catch it sooner, but I fell a little behind  . It's gone now, and I'm sure Tim will take better care now.

Anyone who's been here longer than 15 minutes usually understands that it's not acceptable on this site.

thanks,
json

That would be great to see Dan Stanly on a Husaberg. Dan's Bellingham home is only a couple miles from me. Dan is a talented rider, but as you say, "a wild card".

As the old saying goes:
"You get what you pay for!"

I have always liked Dan Stanley, however, long term focus seems to be an issue.

Such being said:
If I had a prototype and needed it in the main event (accepting the risk of crashing and / or blowing up a one off) Dan Stanley would get my vote.

Kind Regards,
Dale

PS
The late Rikcy Graham was brilliant when he was on his game. However, staying on his game was always a struggle. So it seems with Dan Stanley and Kevin Atherton.
