What caused this failure?

Oh good question, I have no idea and nothing in particular ever happened to it.
Well unless you consider 150 hrs of ice riding being a problem, that is.
Its quite abusive and Id reckon some parts will take more abuse than from woods riding, but cracked cases I wouldnt think of.

Interesting place to crack. The front sprocket rotates forward and the engine want to counter backwards, the swing arm mount and top mount stops it but the engine flexes between them? Or do you think this comes from the crank? Fatigue from vibrations?

Gorilla tape very strong they said. But seriously, this could be welded I think. So don't throw them away.

Its prob split where the balance shaft runs all the way to what’s visible outside.

Very interesting! Thanks for posting! – Did it have a stock rotating assembly?

I also wonder if 530 EXC-R cases crack in a similar way. – Edit: Just checked, and a good honest online search didn't reveal anything.

Im wondering whether you had a clearence issue with the counter balancer!

Was thinking about how to mend the engine, do it myself or let someone else do it for me. I have no experience in setting the crank true so I gave peter at FP Engineering a call and Im happy to say he will do the job for me :)
I dont have any connections on transport from Nyköping Sweden to Wiesau Germany, if anyone can help with either contacts for shipping or you are/knows a friend travelling to the east of Germany, Id be most thankful, please PM me! :)

Bye bye, see you soon :) One Box with the engine and the other box with the donor stuff. Off to FP-Engineering Germany.

To get a decent price on shipping from sweden to abroad, put it on a pallet is the tip, then it qualifies as a business shipping. Its what I learned anyway, this half pallet of 45kgs was just approx 125 euro to ship, using DB Schenker.

The general was maintained by the blondes crew, a few more areas were touched admittedly.

Yup no clue as why the cases bust, I set the limiter low at 9,6k.

So till the happening you "only" did the general maintenance?

For sure.

It’s funny how you can actually buy happiness. If what you’re buying is Husaberg.

Its been a long journey.

Edit: bought the bike in 2012
After tuning it I got it running right in the beginning, ie 2016 ice riding season, and it was silly quick.
Soon after I had a filter issue (sure I could have prevented that)
Then the injector malfunctioned, and it took me the rest of the season to figure the problem. Late season of 17 I felt something bothered me riding it, so I handed the engine over to a local recommended tech, got the engine back, started it and it sounded like a drill hammer, jumped on the stop button and he had mounted a 450 gasket in it. And recently the cases cracked.
I hope Ive had my share of bad luck now :) Sigh...

wait, what, 450 gasket? That's a 95mm bore, right? – wow!

Lol, pretty big mistake eh, but hey were all humans and Ive already moved along + hes a very likable honest guy.
Hopefully bringing the new iteration to life tomorrow, just need to put the oil in before pushing the start button.
