So i went to the KTM off road school in Wales (UK) at the weekend. Run by ex world champ Ady Smith. Welcome to Ady Smith Off-Road Schools - The only Official UK KTM Off-Road School
Was a great day of fun, gained some great tips off Ady which will no doubt help my riding in the future.
I got to try out all the bikes including the new 'free rides' which Ady called the 'picnic' bike lol. Something you would take with you on a family picnic so 'everyone' can have a go. They are very small and the brakes are made by a mountain bike company so are nothing like the brembos. Felt a little cheap
I couldn't get the hang of the 2 stroke bikes power band but could have been down to my inexperience or tired arms which still ache now.
I really enjoyed riding the excf 350 450 and 500 bikes and found the 350 the best combination of power and weight although i did love getting up into 3rd on the 450 and feeling it pull all the way up a big long steep hill.
I found the KTMs smaller than my Berg FE450 and as such harder to ride, the bars and seat felt low and consequently effected my ride (I'm 6ft 1). Ady did tell us some of the bikes had lower seats on but it was mainly on the 125 and 200/250 two stokes.
Has anyone else found this with the KTMs? or been to the other try out days?
I have done the Yamaha and Mick Extance Kawasaki days in wales. of which i preferred the Kawasaki of all the days.
