Effective Sept 1 2007 KTM North America will be taking over distribution of Husaberg Motorcycles in north America

no that's not what kadlec meant i don't think. if it's like the UK. ktm will bring them over and then the dealers will do the rest. it means the end for barrett marketing i would think but the dealers will continue as regular dealers.

regards

Taffy

Does that mean Barrett's will distribute Gasgas only?

What the hell is going on around here?

In my opinion that will be good for Husaberg here in the states. the enthusiasm from Barrett has not been there in a while. It will be interesting to see how KTM N.A. handles the change, we they use their current reps? or will they try to start over with new ones? I hope KTM will put some money in the racing scene, the last time I heard anything about Dylan he was still riding an 06 model and I couldn't even get a team shirt out of them to wear to our banquet! If I remember correctly Jon Erik Burleson used to ride Husabergs, now he is the president of KTM North America, he might still have some blue and yellow in his veins!

Makes sense. Lots of KTM parts and service similarities on them thar Husabergs.

Stay tuned for the nitty gritty details.

I think KTM has accepted BMW's offer to duel, and are going ot make sure to increase is USA market share. I expect separate Husaberg / KTM dealers (like Honda / Acura).

KTM´s company-philosophy, guess it´s worldwide:
When KTM is National Distributor there is no combined KTM/Husaberg -Dealers allowed.

So, expect for the US better parts and Service-availabilty with KTM as Distributor, but expect not too much
from Marketing.
Right now Husaberg is the 5th wheel at KTM

Happened here in Australia in 1999, KTM Australia took over the Husaberg distributorship from the incumbent Husaberg Australia, the dealerships remained but KTM distributed them though a subsidiary called of course Husaberg Australia, since then lots of KTM dealerships have gained a Husaberg deal, but only one Husaberg dealership(that I know of) has gained a KTM deal !

Guys just to clarify. Dixie Sales Inc. made the decision to not distribute Husaberg for 2008. Husaberg was informed of this and their solution was to do it thourhg their subsidiary company KTM USA. I wish all of you the best, its been a neat ride over the last 5 years. Hopefully you will look at the past five years and agree that Barrett/Dixie made a positive contribution to the line of Husaberg here in North America.

Kudos to barrett / dixie!!!!! They made Husaberg a viable option again in the USA and raised the bar. Thanks.

I was contemplating getting a Honda crf450r, and building my own enduro bike, but the treatment of BMG when I needed parts for my old 470 and the satisfied dealers (with their relationship with BMG) gave me the confidence to get another 'berg.

Unfortuanately, Barrett / Dixie has not been able to perform the same magic with GasGas as they did Hbg. Dare I ask what future there is for GasGas in the USA? :?:

For those that care to take a look, BMG and its wholly owned subsiduary Dixie sales has been acquired by Freeplay energy Pl .a leader in non battery powered flashlights phone chargers etc.As Freeplay energy Pl is listed on the london stock exchange the financial transactions are a matter of public record.
As freeplay energy is dedicated to lowering the carbon footprint on this planet(as well as making money)it appears that the new board of directors has decided that they have no will to continue in the motorcycle business(includes GAs Gas).
The share price for Freeplay has not done so well in the first half of this year and it appears that Blackrock has sold a large block and another investment bank Allianz AKA global in the US has bought at least 15% of this company. At first sight it appears that as the bean counters are gaining control and there has been a limited power struggle. it is hard to tell really.
In the last few weeks the last two larger independent distributors (Barrett and Ferracci) have lost intrest/control.
As far as the guys at Barrett go when you recall where Husaberg was 5 years ago and where they are today they really did not do a bad job at all.
One thing about the MC business is it never stays the same for long... cest levie

I have somwhat followed the Freeplay / Blackrock business deals and wondered if they felt that offroad bikes was an albatross that they did not want, simply put it was in conflict witih business mission statement, and Dixie sales would have to go bye-bye.

Well now, isn't this just great news?? I wonder how long all the parts are going to be sitting in boxes and all of us sitting here waiting for KTM to find a place and process for the HBG line of parts? Like when Mr. Knight messed things up proper a little over 5 years ago. Have I got this about right? If not someone please straighten me out.

From what I hear thru the grape vine, KTM is moving into their new warehouse, Husaberg will be in their old one next door. They have set up meetings with the reps next week to sort out how this will be handled. I'm being optimistic, KTM N.A. has been doing all the right things to get bikes and parts out there, anywhere in the woods now days is orange bikes! While I agree that Barrett has done a fantastic job bringing Husaberg from some very bad times, the rider support and dealer network is limited, here in the south it is non existent, I was the only Berg out there last year. If only we had a Boss or Fritz dealer here, someone passionate about the Husaberg! I don't think the current KTM dealers will change and bring in Husaberg, but I think with KTM behind them, new Husaberg dealers will be opening up, KTM is good at marketing.
