KTM/'Berg split??????

Have had some contact with the guys who should know....

What the picture means is simply that the swedish company "Husaberg Motor AB" has been liquidated....

heya Jocke,

That reminded me that not so long ago one of the guys from the factory contacted me to let me know that Husaberg AB no longer existed and that I needed to change a couple of references to it on the site.

I imagine you're right, and as is always the case with these things, we've created a couple of pages of posts out of what comes down to semantics.

thanks,

Now that I read this post again, I bet that the liquidated part means that all the stuff in Sweden is being liquidated, not the brand itself.

Well, you may have some insiders info but the perspective is grim and I'm not foreseeing, just fearing the worst.

The fact that they did not even update the Web site with the new models tells you a lot.

That shows very little respect for Husaberg.

The factory website has always been the last to be updated. The new model distribution used to be uneven. What I mean is that Europe would get their bikes way before the U.S. would. European importer sites would update before the factory. I am sure this was done as a courtesy to those regions that have not yet received their bikes.

I tend to concur with Scott here. You all are getting your knickers in a knot for nothing. Of course KTM needs to liquidate all the Husaberg AB stuff, they have no need for assets in Sweden when the bikes are made in Austria. All they need is a R&D shop for Roland Ohrn and team to keep testing stuff, that can be a fairly small shop in Sweden, maybe in Roland's back yard. Ford isn't dumping Lincoln, Chevrolet isn't dump Cadillac, etc, and KTM isn't dumping Husaberg.
Let's get over the "poor me, the sky is falling BS", get out and enjoy your bikes, they kick ***. I'm not giving up on Husaberg and I don't think KTM is either.

Exactly so

Think we were making a hen out of a feather or what the expression would be in English 8)

But that only proves how much we really do care about our beloved 'Bergs. :D

Exactly :!:

The official website is the last one to be updated so that the local distributors will get a chance to get their stuff up and running.

Here in Sweden they have already started to advertise the 2006 range in bike magz but since our husaberg.se is a mirror of husaberg.cc we won't get a updated site for quite a while yet :(

Whatever the case may be it was INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH STUPID to put that flow chart up on their main website. With no explanation attached to boot! It almost would appear that there is a Husabasher within the ranks of KTM that has it in for Husaberg.

As we say in the U.S.

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING ?

That's true. It may very well be a translation mistake too.

As they in Germany, Ach! Scheise...

You can put away the white flag LeFrog... we'll let you know when it's time to surrender.

For what its worth, when Peter at HMS was here a couple of months ago, he told me that there was still a small design team in Sweden but all the assembly had moved to Austria. Peter knows the fellows in Sweden (As well as Smets and anyone else that races for Husaberg) and converses frequently with them. I mentioned it was odd that they still had designers in Sweden and he shrugged. I think the designers in Sweden have met their Waterloo and nothing more. Am going through Angel Fire next week and will ask him more.

Husaberg is now referred to as..." Husaberg a division of KTM" it would follow that the the Swedish"Husaberg .A.B." is indeed in liquidation and has been for a few years. Why there is a development team still active in sweden no doubt has more to too with fulfillment of legal commitments tied to Govt subsidies received in years past than any current requirement.....just a guess....nsman

Nsman gets it!
:D

Yes,that is close to what I was thinking.
I do remember something about the
Swedish government helping,but I
couldn't remember if it was Husaberg
or Husqvarna a decade earlier. Some racers,
SM I think have already signed 2006 contracts.
2007 will be the test, will they get a new motor?
Will it be Husaberg exclusive?I wish now I had
bought an 04 FE instead of the 02 FX.Who knows,
I might have kept it.

This is great, it's the 6 monthly death knell. I set my watch to it nowadays, and that's only been for the past 5 years now

Bloomin' 'eck it simply means a shift from AB to AG

I wouldn't doubt they'll keep a design team in Sweden and that's not just for past subsidies.

Hi Simon,

Pre AB-AG statement:
To the very best of my knowledge two from the original family remained. Tomas and Roland. Roland is simply a great guy and Tomas still owned 5% of Husaberg AB.

I imagine AB - AG indicates the remaining 5% has been purchased by KTM, Cross Holding and / or Polaris.

In any event the true genius of Husaberg (Urban) has not been with the company for several years.

KTM may very well indeed have a "dream team" located in Sweden. Just the same and aside from Roland and Tomas whom from said team could not be replaced with an existing KTM engineer in Austria?

Politics aside, Husaberg remains to be a very cool and different motorcycle. Enjoy it!

I simply find the drama amusing. :)

Sincerely,
Dale
