Kicked over fine until.......

I just adjusted my valves after break-in as posted earlier. I went to start it(my '94 fc6000) manually, but it's acting like I have no manual de-comp at all, almost impossible to kick over. And maybe I to am hearing things because I thought I heard a snap sound when trying to kick over. Kicked over fine before valve adjustment. :?:

squarehead,

My best guess is that you have either adjusted your valves incorrectly, or the auto decomp device went south. The first piece of advise I would suggest is to redo the valve adjustment. Make sure you are doing it at TDC and the clearances are correct. While you have the valve covers off, do some investigating inside the area with a flashlight to see if you have any broken bits you can see. If you see any berg bits laying around I would guess its going to be a part off the auto decompression system. Also while you are at the valve adjustment, see if you can visually see anything down in the combustion chamber through the spark plug hole... maybe a broken valve that dropped down. If you get the valve adjustment done again without seeing any obviously broken bits and it still doesn't want to kick over than I would presume the auto decompression lobe is bound up. Here is a picture out of Husabutt's gallery to give you an idea of what im referring to. Husadawg also has some good pics in his gallery HERE to give you some more incite. This is just a guess but hopefully will give you somewhere to start. Hope this helps!

Regards,

Sandskipper, thank you for the reply, but as stated I have manual and not auto decomp. Maybe your right about my valve adjustment though, it was my first time doing one. ](*,)

I'm with sandskipper....you may have adjusted the valves on the wrong stroke....why would I know this ?....................................................
