Just curious on what temperature everyone’s bikes are running at or what’s the normal operating engine temp is? I’m Planning on going for a nice long trail ride 3 towns over from my house to my parents about 20.0 km and I wanna make sure my bike is running at proper temperature well on my ride will I be able to do that ride without letting it cool down or is it to far?. This will be my first real ride on it haven’t got out much this summer so wanna ride last few weeks of summer . I got a tusk high pressure rad cap with temp Gauge so was planning on using that to watch my temperature. So far been on a few rides and seems to run really good and not to hot allways stays in the green on the gauge.

I think I remember mine running around 180F/82C, although hotter if I get stuck in traffic

Ok thanks good to know I just wanted to know what to exspect to see on a long ride so far I’ve gone on short 20-30 min ride and I switch to water wetter with 2.0 tusk high pressure rad cap with a catch tank and my temp didn’t go over 150F witch I though was pretty good it stayed in the green on gauge the entire ride. What’s the longest km ride you have gone on ? The ride I wanna do is 20.0km with long straight trails the entire way so it will be fast going do u think it should do that no problem ?

Hello,

20km on long, straight trails have never been a problem for my Husabergs. If you are going to do a more technical enduro work where the radiator does not get enough air through it then you can start worrying about heating problems and maybe buy a fan.

I don't know if your era bikes have thermostats. If anything, riding a dirtbike on the highway it tends to stay too cold.

Engine Temps are too cold

I took my '99 FE501 out for a mileage test last weekend, and I did 59 miles per gallon averaging 45 mph. It was around 50F temps. My motor at those speeds was averaging between 113F - 116F. At those cold temps, it felt rich, and down on power. I'd sit for 5 minutes at idle to get it up to 175F, and of course, it was more responsive, and happier. It needs a thermostat (for at least 160F). Is there any kind of thermostat that can be installed? Maybe one that goes "in-line"?
