I just installed one on my FS650, now, including my home made filter housing, I have double the oil capacity! Hooray!
A more complete report of my berg resurrection will follow.

Some pics of the install.

:D thanks grok! I got mine last week & i'll put it on my new steed.

I just sold my 05 fc 450 & am getting a 04 fe 450, good price

made me switch & i'll add another customer to my inventory!

more oil makes me happy for some reason, never had problems

just seems to make sence for long distence racing.

thank you for the tip. BOSS!

That's quite a unit you have there Grok 8O (the reservoir).

Very sano job on the homemade filter housing. Did you make 10 or 20 spares to sell or does Joe Racer offer their own version for the berg?

(off subject) I've always thought your avatar is the coolest. Wonder if there's a way to resize so the Southpark Husadude is fully visable?

for showing it to us all. thanks again grok!

Hey husabutt, the filter in the motor is removed

& the smaller filter that ktm uses is installed

in a cool clear canister.

Thanks for noticing my unit! Now if only the ****** did!

You are quite correct about the filter housing, (visible in center pic) I did make it. I made it to fit the stock husaberg filter because I have plenty of them.

Make a south park dude or dude'tt

@ Grok : what would be your judgement on the actual advantages of this product, now that you have installed it on your bike for some weeks ?

Sorry not to reply sooner XMen.

It's pretty hard to quantify any improvements this soon, I will have a better idea at the next teardown. It's hard to imagine how doubling the oil capacity would hurt anything though! I made a whole lot of other changes at the same time, I guess I'll have to submit a full report soon. Well when the weather gets really crappy! Too busy riding.

Anybody else try one of these things? Seems like a briliant idea, but a little expensive...

Grok, why didn't you mount them by the radiator, as advised for the KTM? Is it that the design of the Husabergs makes it impossible? I guess it would get more airflow in the front...

What price did you pay for it? On his Web site he says "$Call".

Finally what year and model is your bike and what improvements have you seen so far?

Thanks and good job on the install!

I put it there because cooling wasn't my main concern and I like things tucked away so that they don't snag on things or get wiped off in a spill. My main goal was greater oil capacity.

My berg is a 2001 650, the unit cost around $200 and comes with the cover and the hoses and clamps and mounting brkts. I could have made one but Joe did all the "figuring out" of the design so I felt it was worth it.

Seems like this would help alleviate cooling problems as reported by some of us who ride tight trails. And yes agree, doubling the oil capacity has to be a good thing, especially with non divorced oil system that our bikes use. The mounting job looks pretty Formula 1 too!

How does the system alter your oil changing routine?

Do you have a picture from the back side of the old oil filter cover?

I thought I read in a previous post that the oil pump wasn't up to the task of pumping more oil volume. Is this true Mr. Lineaweaver?

I pull the seat plastic and I used enough hose to allow the hanging of the assembly over the muffler to drain. I undo the cooler cap to change the filter.

Sorry, I don't have a picture of the cover back.

Grok

What happens to the oil level when the bike sits for awhile? Does it all drain back into the sump? If so what happens at startup? Does the volume have to be refilled in the filter and reservoir before oil passes back into the motor? I am not familiar with the oil circuit, but does this leave anything at risk at startup? HT-Racing makes a setup for KTM's (and supposedly soon for Husabergs) that uses a new billet ignition cover with an integral reservoir mounted above. The thing about the HT-Racing unit is that it incorporates a check valve where the oil leaves the motor (the external oil line routed to the head) to prevent the extra oil from draining backwards into the motor. Does the Joe Racer uses something similar at the oil filter adapter? Would this be a benefit if it is not included?
