here is a flavour of what's on, please follow the links!
MGP 2009 is monday 31 August to friday 4 sept
so the weekend dates are 29-30 august and this is what you should aim for and stay on the august bank holiday monday to watch some incredible racing around the famous TT course!
the 31st is a monday, a bank holiday in the uk, and the first day of road racing. road racing will be on the 31st, wednesday 2nd and friday 4th sept.
on race days the bikes finish going by at about 3.30pm, which allows a couple of hours to scoot over the trails etc before tea. racing starts at 10am and the road itself is closed from 9.30am. not a problem for us as we can ride anywhere BUT you can only cross the course at one point named "quarterbridge" on the outskirts of douglas.

these are the dates of the manx 2-day trial in '08 but give you a flavour. . it's the biggest in the uk. they used to get 300+ riders there. the dates are 29/30 august '09 so they are on on the weekend we are aiming at! they use a lot of the byways we do plus skit across a mountains etc.

this finishes off the race week the dates being the 5/6th september.
there is also a mid week MX (2nd) event usually along the castletown douglas road.
there is a sprint along ramsey front sometimes and also there may be an enduro. i'll keep checking.
i can offer to look after anyone who wants to come over to the UK as i'm 70 miles from london and more importantly perhaps 50 miles from harwich (hoek van holland) and felixstowe (zeebrugge) and live 5 miles from the main route west - the A14.
ady and gruntenberg may be pressed into collecting all the scando's from hull.
we have it all covered!
ady has been to richard's 6 times and wants to be there again. because i think we'll get to 20+ i have visions of 6-7 going on the two day trail ride with richard and the other 14 either doing their own trail ride or going off to follow the 2DT. point is that as long as it is clear beforehand which 7 want the 2-day trail tour with richard then i think it'll be fine!
accomodation wise well there is another house near richard that can take 6 and richard can take 10. to be honest it doesn't worry me. we can sort it all out as we go! as things stand (job wise) i have a van that will take 6 bikes and three people. i can even get 5 bikes for you all but they won';t be huseys.....
ady has booked his regular trail tour guide and all spaces at the guest house. by the time we get there richard will have opened a bar in his house.
i personally would like to go out on the thu/fri and follow the 2DT for a day and then trail ride the other. trail ride to a spot on the TT course and watch the GP, move on to another view point and then another etc etc.
i prefer to follow a race though even if it is by radio so i would move at lunchtime between the 2 races. that's just my style.
it really is the most remarkable holiday....
so we want all the uk riders to come even those on SMs!!! and from europe as well! there is room for at least 5 of you to fly straight to the IoM and we will be there to collect you with a bike waiting.... i mean FFS! does it get any better?
regards
Taffy
