Gday Guys.
A long story short.....
I went and registered my 09 FE570 today at my local Vicroads (Victoria Australia's version of BDSM specialty house, so I am told))
In Australia if a bike is below 500cc they are a lot cheaper to register, anyway, I got in there, fluttered my eye's at the elderly lady behind the counter and prepared for the large butt plug they were no doubt about to insert, not to mention the outrageous cost about to inflicted on me.
She put the VIN and engine number in and said it was a 390cc.
I didn't argue because I saved myself about $400, thanked her and walked out.
I brought the bike from a mate, I have the first owners original bill of sale with the same numbers but stating it's a 570, as well as the REC rego it was on, also stating 570.
Here's the Question....
Is there a prefix or similar in the 17 digit VIN or engine number that identifies the capacity or is it stamped on the barrel somewhere, as some older bikes I remember used to have.
Did the fluttering of my eye lashes have any effect on this elderly lady?
I'm perplexed but pleasantly surprised. And not complaining.
