Hey does anyone know where to get the sub frame fuel tank kit from???
Could really use it for some of the rides we do.

Cheers Gotchya

Hi guys,
I had my sub-tank mod done by a mechanic I know in NEWCASTLE.
He did a great job and I've done over 1500km now since the mod and no problems whatsoever.

His contact details are:
Eran Jones
Fatcrank Racing
email: jonesy AT fatcrank.com

If you have any problems getting hold of him, drop me a PM.

cheers,
Andrew Coaker

welcome aboard Andrew, nice to see another aussie, let alone a pro on here!

Hope you do well on the Berg this year.

Azza.

Had my sub fuel tank modification done by the blokes at Valley Force Husaberg in Lilydale Victoria. Did a 600km desert ride near Mildura, had no problems whatsoever.

If you want to increase the range you may also consider using map switch set on racing program. I'm 90% sure that overall bike consumption is less in this map.

What is your logic leading to this?
I wold think the opposite...

"Performance is economy"

I believe that the normal power mode of the bike is the racing one, and the rest are made softer using spark retarding, which lowers the engine efficiency. I have noticed big improvement in range per tank when I ride the bike on racing mode compared to standard mode. I ride very different terrains each time, and cannot be 100% sure of my observation. Maybe someone else will make more precise test.

Anyone got anymore info about this subframe fuel tank? Not like I struggle (road riding for me) but it would be useful. Not heard of it before, Thanks.

Good info, thanks. I am now a happy bunny! The difference is significant compared to soft mode.
Today i set the map switch to full power/agressive mode on my 570 for a trail ride.
The terrain was some woods, not tight, open fields, soil, ruts, road sections, not many hill climbs.
On the first half of the loop i covered 50 miles and used 4.5 litres.
The return loop was a quicker pace, over 90mph on open sections and i covered 55 miles using 5 litres of fuel.
This equates to 11 miles per litre for trail which could give 90 miles per 8.25 litre tankful.
I am very happy with this as it means on some enduros i will not have to refuel until the 2 hour halfway stage, as i should get 65 miles per tank when racing.
When the bike was newer and in soft mode, i was only getting 6 miles per litre at race pace so this is a big improvement.
I will check again next weekend at race pace on a full enduro course and keep you posted.

Cheers,
Nick

in my opinion the soft mode is more efficient, actually. could it be that you guys pull the throttle so much in softmode to compensate4 the lower number in HP's that you make it less efficient then the race mode?

i got 17 km (11 miles) on a liter also, in standard and softmode during a rally.

just remember that every difference between your bikes, yourselves and where your riding is going to mean that your milages per litre / gallon will be different.

unless we can get some scientific way of doin it we'll probably not get a definitive answer.

can you tell how much fuel is being used via the efi user interface?

Thats interesting that you got 11m per L in softmode when racing. How many miles have you done on yours ? The reason i ask is, i am wondering if the new bergs give better fuel consumption after a few hundred miles on the clock, regardless of mapping.

Hopefully someone with the knowledge of EFI mapping will chip in and give us more details of how it actually works. I thought an engine was most efficient when it burnt off all air and fuel in the cylinder, so sabinks explanation of a retarded spark in soft and standard makes sense to me.
I do know i ran out of fuel at 69 miles on softmode when i first had the bike doing trail.

I personally am finding softmode to be a disadvantage on my 570 in almost all conditions .
I admit 55HP at the back wheel is not ideal for really tight slippery stuff but i still prefer to take advantage of the bikes capability in race mode and just click into a taller gear asap to find traction. Its a remarkable bike.

Cypher,
I think fuel consumption figures for the new bergs with EFI should be comparable within a mile or so per litre for similartypes of riding if you relate it to fast trail / enduro for say Wales and GNCC events.
Exceptions would be constant 1st/2nd gear trials type events and power sapping sand/desert riding.

@nick
my bike ran 60 hours, some 2100 km. most of it was during a technial rally in spain. My fuell consumption on the '2' setting was earlier, i'll try using a whole tank in this setting with the current milage. maybe i'll get 12-23 miles on this setting? that was what i got on the 2004 husa.
