I forgot to tell you my exhaust is a very good lethal weapon for the ears of my competitors. they dont know which gear they have chosen because they are so confused and the victory is mine. HA HA HA

What About Linked Shock Again With An OHLINS Front And Rear Optional Extra :?:
I'm Not A Big Fan Of FI,I Think That Going Down That Route Would Kill Off
Any Of The Recent Work On Making These Much More Reliable.

For the future I would like to see a Husaberg Offroad Diesel Engined bike.
Diesel seems like it may come back in a big way and could push hybred and fuel cell motors to the sidelines.

Check out this company which is about to launch diesel powered bikes

yo kez , fuel injection has come a long way, reliability would not be an issue .
fine tuning is simple , with a module such as dynojet produces you can fine tune at the push of a button . you can use various maps to give a suitable setting / delivery . dynotuning is part of the process .

on saying that there is nothing wrong with the good old flatslide H-berg :iagree:

DIESEL RACE BIKE ? ? ? ARE ALL THE AMERICANS CRAZY LIKE YOU ?

I think that you need to take a ride in a 6.6 Litre Chevrolet Duramax with a performance intake, chip, propane injection, exhaust and Banks turbo kit. 750+ ft. lbs. of torque and good gas mileage is fun.

Xteme Diesel

Crazy you say? We say crazy like a fox :)

Duramax Engine:

The Duramax Diesel 6600 V8 is the most powerful engine in its class. The stock base power rating is 300 horsepower at 3100 rpm and 520 lb.-ft. of torque at 1800 rpm however this engine is capable of being built up to 800hp and 1400 lb.-ft of torque by our team of diesel engineers. The block is case hardened and incorporates a one-piece aluminum crankcase and one-piece aluminum bell housing which helps reduce noise, vibration and harshness .

Flashback to Sweden 1987 :hypnodisk: ..........................

A very high performance 4 stroke dirt bike is proposed.......................It will never work some say, too heavy, too slow, too bulky, too many moving parts, can't compete with two strokes....................

Shall I continue...................

If it's the ones of the engine tear down, yes.
Very fascinating for me to see, you should post some of those as well.

some very funny people here! you all been drinking the happy juice or is that that takis making you all laugh again!

how about sensible stuff lads?

a ti exhaust system.
larger bore downpipes (headers).
alloy rear subframe.
give the MX two narrow radiators, a narrow tank and give the trail/enduro a very large tank and keep the wide one-peice radiator.
re-introduce the 500 with the 450's bore but a longer stroke.
re-introduce the 400.
alloy rear subframe as part of a 10lb weigh saving effort.
major review of suspension which still needs lots of work, even change away from WP if necessary.
airbox set-up producing more power.
a better mastercylinder with more feel.
forged levers.

just some acheivable ideas

regards

Taffy

My Gasgas Was Only 19 Months Old When Its Started Going Wrong And Its Not Yet 3 Years Old.
I Can See What A Good Idea It Is When Its Running Right,But As Soon As It Goes &^%$(ladies chest  ) Up Its A Real Pain In The.....
Think Of The Added Cost To Get The Software To Make The Adjustments Yourself Vs A Socket Set And Some Screw Drivers.
The Gasser Needed A New Battery,Throttle Body And Some Wiring Fixed.
All That Cost Me £690!!!!!!!
For Me FI Is Too Fickle And Troublesome To Be Used On An Enduro Bike,Its Not User Friendly When It Starts Playing Up 13 Miles In The Woods.
Fine For The MX Or SM Boys To Use First And Get It Sorted Though As Your Never That Far Away From Your Trailer To Take It Back Home :D

ok , i guess it depends on the type or brand of injection - some carbs are far better than others . my experience with injection is with bikes like the GSXRIOOO or ZX12R where the injection is very good , and reliable .

when a new technology comes brings together problems.in gas gas chief enginner is a american guy call him jeff.it comes the last year and fix many problems.EVERY YEAR AND BETTER.this is my big fear about the new Aprilia supermoto.injection.will see

As to the FI issue, I would hate to see our beautifully simple Bergs start looking anything like what Cannondale had, WHAT A MESS!!!! Wires and sensors and crap all over the place, 20 LBS of crap in a 10LB bag!

My friends who love FI insist that it will be an improvement, but that's coming from a dyno tuners' perspective, not a riders perspective, or from someone that wants to be able to work on their own bike. As others have said in this thread, it works great, till it stops working.

I supose that resistance is futile, so why bother even contemplating future life without fool injection? :)
