Husaberg Quad

It is as it has always been....a few idiots ruin things for the masses. It just seems that the ease of starting and riding (driving ?) a quad attracts a larger percentage of idiots, perhaps we should invest in some education programs. Maybe like you can't buy a quad until you can spell R-E-S-P-O-N-S-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y and recite the definition. Thanks Berger you always make me laugh !

You guys send it to me. I'll make sure I destroy it in a fashion that you all approve of and will video tape the process. And to really hit 'em where it hurts, I'll paint it red and put Honda stickers on it. Oh, and it's going to have three wheels on the tape. In fact, it's going to look a lot like an '83 Honda Big Red.

But it will be the Husaberg.

Hahaha thats classic. I wish it wasn't too far away because it would be perfect for the beaches here. 20 miles of beach and twice a day mother nature grooms away the evidence and you can start again the next.
The quads destroy the vegetation up north exposing the black peat, causing an unatural amount of melting of the permafrost- you want to see ruts!

if you want to destroy this thing just give it to someone who actually rides quads, they seem to be able to destroy them in short order. there are tons of these idiots at my local orv park. cant miss these guys, carhartt overalls with no shirt, no helmet but a pair of goggles, and usually about 6 coors lights into a half rack with the rest of it strapped to the back of the quad

Cell phones don't ruin single track, though.

I am with Colby. Quads have ruined great singletrack in many places. Take the stereotypical quad rider (backwards hat with goggles, beer cooler strapped to rack, etc) out of the equation if you must. The fact remains that because of their physical size, even responsible and rule abiding quad riders ruin single track, and in short order.

The advent of the two seater hillbilly charriots like Rhinos, Rangers, etc have made it even worse. The mountain trails around Cloudcroft, NM which were built by motorcycles 30 years ago, have all turned into a quad playground. What they can't traverse easily they just winch up. Disgusting, really.

I realize that the off road community collectively does not need to be in-fighting. I mean, we have enough outside enemies as is. However, some moderation and thought about quad access would be prudent while there are bits of single track left.

Two cents worth here,

In the Kennedy Meadows area where I ride during the summer there are no quads allowed on the single track, and the USFS rangers are pretty strict about enforcing that rule, IE they don't allow them to be off of the trailer or out of the truck in the campgrounds where you can ride out of. Saw some people get busted there once for that, and not only did they get ticketed, but, they got kicked out of the area. The only place you can ride quads there is on some of the jeep roads.

In the Desert, at least where I ride, on BLM land, most of the quad riders I see are at least helmeted and goggled. Lot's of family trains too. In the state parks like Gorman, the idiots abound and the rangers are having a field day with enforcement activities. I truly believe that the 2% rule applies here, about 2% of the people mess it up for everyone else. A prime example is Ozzy Osbourne, remember when he pasted himself on one? Just about killed himself if memory serves.

In the Desert Scramble events, I end up having to pass however many quads are in the race, which is, interesting to say the least. But most quad racers are cool about letting you by in the tight stuff when you come up on them.

Fact of the matter is that section of the OHV market has been growing at 20% for the last 8 or 10 years. And guess what? Everyone can get on a quad and ride, but not everyone can get on a bike and ride it.

Funny you guys should mention Cloud Croft, I just came from that area. Have you thought about trying to get any of the single track designated as motorcycle only? I mean at least this would stop the destruction of the remaining single track, if there is any.

A couple of years back I got a promotional DVD from Polaris I think, and I have to admit that I found their utility quad appealing. It had all sorts of cool stuff on it from a small chain saw scabbord, to a fold out table on the back with an embedded cooking stove on the back. I thought it would have been cool for an adventure sort of thing to go back in the mountains on old logging/jeep roads and camp out far from anyone. But, alas, there is no quad in my garage.

Pollo, I don't think anyone meant anything personal with their comments try not to take it that way. I'm sure everyone here has appreciated your inside info on the 09's, and other posts you have made.

As far as burning things, I only burn the things the leprechaun tells me to .

I cant believe die-hard Husabergers would want to burn a piece of Husaberg History...thats what we see it as, especially with VIN 000001. Ultimately, when we can increase our building size, we plan on displaying it as a piece of Berg History, as well as our 92...unless someone buys it.

The Lincoln National Forest Sacramento District, basically what we all refer to as "Cloudcroft", is currently undergoing the Remapping process that all National public riding areas are going through.

Looking at the proposed solutions, no area that remained accessible to motorized travel was excepted just for motorcycles. It will remain open for 2 and 4 wheel wheel use. We did lose some trail to non-motorized travel only. The proposal is not final, I don't think.

Sorry to hear that mate. I was in Lincoln just the other day and it looked like some great riding area's.

Yeah the trail inventory thing was, in my not totally informed opinion, a joke. Just lead to a bunch of trails being closed down.

As i have said in other posts, it's too bad only 10% of the off road users are involved with some sort of organization that is pro access. If that number could just come up to 60 or 70% and people would contribute just the cost of one riding trips worth of gas a year, the land use battle would be a different story.

Thanks for the info, and my condolences on your loss of trails, and the fact that the single track is gone. The bright side is that you didn't lose it all to riding.

Well, I reckon anyone who would burn that is bent out of shape unnecissarily over the quad issue.

lets face it, thats a piece of artwork, just as 'anti-mainstream' as the bergs we ride, only it has 4 wheels. everything has its place also, so fair enough there are places they shouldnt be, but like so many things, the ******** prevails, the blame is put upon the majority not the minority that do the stupid ****, and thats why we are ALL part of the deal, wheather you do it right and support an OHV association and ride a rego'd bike, but take the risk on a 'crosser or whatever and rip around the suburbs or the wilderness areas, and yes you are part of the problem.

I say put the Enforcer 4 on a pedestal, appreciate it for what it is and if its not your cup of tea, just get over it.

I see its still for sale, what sort of cost would be involved in shipping to australia? i expect that the current conversion rate (A$0.66 to the US$1.00 ?) then itts gonna be about 1.2 - 1.3 times US price?, im getting keen on this idea.

Thinking whatelse I can sell to make the cash..

And now that time has passed some will still be haters but some others may have changed their minds too.
And your very right in the places were we see the yoboos on quads when has anyone seen one on a Husaberg Quad? Rumored that only 40 were ever built not all were sold and we'll it's been some time now so those that are left should be kept in prosperity!
Those yoboos quads and the damage they do to single track, the environment in general and the dust they course are real issues, but it like all problems is a management and responsiblity one. And now that time has pass it has become apparent that in some areas and countries that the quad bike clubs are not only maintaining trails but opening more, and with out this organizated approach trails will be lost.
In my country the biggest threat to public trails it the "4wd mud truck", and the guys drinking beer going back and forth making big bog holes and ruts. Do I want to burn 4wds no infact I used to own a 4inch lifted 2inch body lifted, 13.5 /33 inch missed Crouser, but it's down to individual responsibility and common courtesy.
