Hi all.
I'm Italian rider (Catania).
I'm sorry for my english (very bad).
Last week i'v seen an Husaberg Fe 600 '99.
Seeminghly bike is good.
The engine drives well, and there is only a little ticking from the valves.
The bike has an exhaust under the tail, and often there is a crackling e fire from the exaust.
The problem is the brake disc very worn-out and thinned (the bike has covered many kilometers or miles).
What do you tink about this bike?
Is the engine of this bike generally solid or not?
Thanks for every reply.
Marco.

its bit hard to say with out seeing the bike marco but ! .

The 99 is a very solid bike the ticking you speak of is normal .

If the bike has travelled many kilometers do you know if the engine has been rebuilt..?

If not is probly due for a set of rings and maybe a piston and various other internal bearings .

The disks can become worn very quickly if the bike is used in sand .
do you know how many hours are on the bike..?
all that aside these are a exellent bike very powerful and very reliable if looked after properly

cheers doug

I agree and this worries me.

I'll ask him more notice, but he is not only owner.

I know that replaced balance wheel of the valves (he has original invoice Husaberg).

I'm sorry again for my english.

Thank you.

Marco - Is it a FE600 or a FE600E (e-start) model. The e-start has a balancer shaft & tends not to vibrate as much. If you are not racing this can be a good thing.

If I had my time again I would look for a '99 or 2000 model instead of my '98. The PDS rear suspension is simpler.

My 99 FE 501 has been really good to me. I think that this engine is more reliable than 01-03. Then after that it got good again. The 99 is slow steering. If you can find a 2000 you end up with the old engine design in basically the new frame design.

I hope you are a very fit and healthy man with a good heart if your planning on trail riding a 600 with no e start im 22 and pretty fit but 3 or 4 kicks and im worn out

Fe 600

One of the best Husaberg I have had, I would suggest one with electrical starter and it works on this model to. Kickin it is a tough work.

ciao !

I kick my 650 always, I mean I kick start it always..... not a big deal .... :D :D I am ready to throw that estart away ....
but then again I rarely am at the woods hangin off he cliff....

Greetings from Greece
I own a '99 600E and the counter balancer was broken. I'm looking for that part but it's hard to find and I was wondering, is there compatibility from other husaberg engine?

Thanks in advance
Dimitris

According to the parts manual pdf found here, the part number is 210 078-04.

Bike-s battery was almost dead, I press the starter button to start the engine, there was a firing from the engine.... and boom. The engine was stuck. Neither with the starter or the kickstarter, nothing was moving.
I disassembly the engine and saw broken pieces from the balancer's gear. (And hope the crankshaft is ok, because I saw the problem when I remove the cylinder, I didn't separate the crankcase yet)

Thank you Taffy

that will have to be a broken bike I think.

I wouldn't worry too much whether it is a 350/400/501 or a 600. just get one. you can always add weight if you are panicky!

Taffy

the ignition timing can be anywhere on those. that and the poor carburation. get those sorted and it won't pop and bang.

regards

Taffy

I have just taken in a brand new balancer in the box.

PM or email me if you'd like it.
