Bike - Husaberg 650FS w/leaning sidecar mod.

Here is a sneak peak to our 2nd Leaning Sidecar to join our Racing Team.
Last year our Leaning Honda 650 Sidecar left the reigning sidecar champs of 5+ years in the "dust" so to speak. This year we plan on taking 1st & 2nd!
This year Monty of MRSI will be piloting the new 650 Berg, I the monkey will be driving the Honda 650!

Got a little carried away trying to carry on the berg colour scheme. Im sure it will need to be repainted after traveling! Yellow sure was a pain.

Sneak Peak Sidecar Action Photo Test Session!
On Jan.19.2008 MRSI set out to practice @ Ghost Dam. With blizzard conditions, MRSI went out in the trucks to make a course just by spinning their tires & making some ice visible. With Snow 4-5 Inches deep in sections, they gained valuable experience & found things that needed to be worked on.

Driver: Monty Brown
Monkey: Scott Coonfer

We were so worried about hitting our swingarm/shockmount we forgot about the muffler!
Have to push it out about 2-3inches to clear it. With a gaurd on there it would only rub & push up on it like our other sidecars.

Nice work Mitch!! Welcome to the Berg family of misfits and throttle junkies.

Are you sure you want to hang off that beast while putting your life in the old fella's hands.? Its good to see that the Alberta ice series is still alive and kicking but I was dissappointed to hear from Titmus this week that the Calgary race has not run for the last couple years. Too bad...that was a great venue.

Cheers

Ya i miss chestermere as well.

I know im crazy, but it all comes down to beating my dad and the german!

The leaning sidecar is not as steep as a curve as a regular sidecar, however it allows us for more speed, & more world of hurt!

Gonna be so awesome.

Does anyone have specs on HP/Torque on the 650FS?

ahahah i beg to differ.

those banks are HAAAAAAAAARD, we went to hospital @ rocky I believe after hitting the bank at about 50KM/h on lap 2 of heat 1. I got tagged by the tire (helmet camera case saved me, it was cut in half) tagged in arm by tire.

My dad got the whole bike/sidecar landed on him, nice wambulance drive. I got back for 3rd heat to race & win!

if you care to search it, back in the twenties a bloke named H R Davies used to win on the isle of man at the famous TT races with a banking sidecar. he eventually stuck to solos and strted his own bikes called HRDs.

i believe h must therefore have been the name behind the immortal HRD vincents.

go into any decent archive and you'll see some great photos of it. also try this in a search:

the keig collection.

Very cool stuff!!

Check the 1st post for sneak peek action photos @ ghost damn.

We didnt have a plow so we did some laps in the truck to make some ice and then just went with it.

I highsided and landed hard on head/arm/elbow, still concussed & am buying new kneepads & putting some elbow ones on. My monkey looked at me still sitting after a highspeed highside, nothing happend to him!!

Too bad about your pipe. I caught mine early enough I didn't have to replace it.

Hopefully I'll have some pix to share tomorrow night.

That is so cool. and cold. I love it. I was annoyed with some tire marks on my pipe! thats nothing compared to yours!

ya, the exhaust is the least of your worries, it can also be you that gets chewed.

We had our swingarm on the honda650 get chewed bad cause some screws came loose.

and Oh my god does the honda have RETARDED torque!!!

I tried a start with my monkey, with about 1/2 of what i would want to take off with, we wheelied for about 4 feet, and then landed hard to the left and fell over. It has so much torque that i can barley hold on when charging hard. And ont he straights when i open it up it takes off like a rocket.

Its gonna be interesting!!

Yeh thats about how it was on the sidecars! Did you not hav ea plow too?

We just got this two way helmet system that works off two way radios, soooo awesome, activates via a button you can put anywhere

Greener racing

Hey, kelsow, are you there??
Awesome pix!! There is some iceracing done about 30 miles north of here on the New Meadows river in West Bath, Maine, and a bit done on some of the ponds, but I don't think anything really organized.
Speed Channel running Canadian MX at Shadow Valley in Morden, Manitoba, right now.
Looks a lot warmer than ice racing!!

RE: Greener racing

Well i did myself in Wednesday practicing sidecar. Couldnt break back end free & Highsided bad, landed on my shoulder & broke in 3 places & Fractured my colarbone & parts of shoulder. Happend at 2pm, let everyone practice til 5pm, got to hospital around 8pm. They were not impressed... But we did make the paper the same day from the previous year racing!

My replacement however is Doing VERY well, But he took out our other team member in sidecar, as they rounded the final corner, of the final lap... was quite something bad . Tried to go inside to pass our other captain & owners sidecar to prove a point, however they ended up crashing bad & losing 1st/2nd.

The Driver of the red sidecar actually ran over the monkey of the 2nd leaning sidecar, his daughter!!

I took these at our jan.27th race, left handed. with the camera upside down using the battery grip.

The day only lasted to the beginning of 2nd heat, -35 celcius wind chill and zero visibility caused us to call the race for safety reasons.
