First off I want to say the last bike I want in my garage is a japanese bike although parts are easy to find I prefer a euro bike because they're dead sexy. I am 5'9 160lbs and I can ride most anything so would I be better off with a 2002 Husaberg 400FEE brand new for $4995 or a 2004 husky TE250 for $5500 or a 2002 Husaberg FX470e with 25 hours on it for $3595
Keep in mind I am a light rider so would should I get the 250 because I'll be riding tight trails and occasional roads to get to each trail or should I say screw it and go big bore?

o boy! that's a hard one to answer! i'm from europe so i don't know the value of these. what i would say is that both the husey's are brittle for that year.

if you do buy one of them i would go for the 470 s the 400 is a little weak in certain areas.

fact is, to be sure that either runs well, you need to spend money on the#m and we can help you there.

look through 'the doc' on your left and maybe it'll help you with your conclusions.

regards

Taffy

wow I have to do all that even if it is new? 8O whats the deal with Husaberg shipping the bikes with a weak cam gear and chain in the first place? I feel like I'm way over my head with this one. I can't just change the oil and clean air filter every time I ride?

Go with the 400. The 470 can be a little tough for shorter people to start.

NO!

If you purchase either of those Bergs with that mentality, we'll be hearing from you in short order even if it doesn't break. You won't be able to start it once the valves loosen up on you.

Honestly, if you're looking to put it away dirty, and and keep maintenance to filters, you might want to consider a Jap bike. There is a penalty to be paid for sexiness :)

thanks,

My son is 165lbs. and purchased a left over 2004 TE250 last year for $4500 including shipping. We ride a lot of tight trails, rocks and roots etc. and have been very happy. The motor doesn't have two stroke snap but it is very tractable and super quiet. At 5'9'' you will have a good fit. Check Ebay for link to Heinen's Husqvarna and see what they have left.
