I've installed a 380 kit in a 450 and ridden it perhaps 20 min. The thing rips!!! Well not exactly, but it feels very light and zingy, more so than the 450/550.

I'm doing a demo for Walt Healy Motorsports, Calgary at Mclean Creek OHV area with the 380/450/550. I'll have a better review of the bike following that, when I have some 150 lb soaking wet fellows ride the bike and compare to their 250f/200s.

cheers

In the right environment that bike will excel. I'm glad Husaberg is offering the kit for consumers, truly effective niche marketing. There are a lot of 250f owners out there that would be better off with a 380.

Neet idea, but what about weight ? Any other trick weight
saving items to go along with the package .

Taffy ,

I have recently had the pleasure of riding some new lighter
bikes, both 2 and 4 strokes . In the woods and on the MX track.
Husaberg needs to get back on the cutting edge. So I am not
asking too much I'm just obsessed . Any chance I get to say
lighten 'em up, I will.

By the way , I am also trying to run up my post count and
thought a light weight motocross bike fetish would be just the
ticket .

As always Cheers ,
Ryan

It should weigh 253, same as the rest. It will be 9 to 11 lbs lighter than a WR/CRFX/TE250 in stk condition. I am playing with the notion of taking the starter off, battery out and Ti exhaust to see where the weight comes in at and see how much better it handles.

Time will tell after tomorrow after I see what people in the offbrand market are thinking and what they want to buy.

stay tuned

burgler

like yer style - welcome to the clan!

i rode a katoom 450sx recently. i was sat about 5" lower it seemed to me but it was like riding a trials bike-way, way lighter than the berg. i'd say about 10 kilos (22 pounds) and my FE was specced as follows:

FE400e with no leccy boot or battery, still has all the wiring accoutriments like headlight, taillight, registration plate, switchgear. it also has acerbis alloy/plastic handguards, i've removed the upper chainguard and run HD tubes. the weight with no fuel was 112KG on a digital scale.

with the suspension set riught the husey is very top heavy and the handling is marginal. if they hadn't brought the front end in i would have recommended it myself as i find it causes me problems in tight slow corners.

112KG could have been 110KG but that's a ball park figure. as for a ti pipe fry, that'll be in the production run then yes! :D :D

Hello , fellow light weight seekers

Well maybe not us but our bikes. First of all not intending to change
the topic of this post , very interesting . Fry keep the updates coming .
Taffy, if your like me that figure accounts for the rider being removed
also . My bike FC550 with 400 engine to meet class requirements ,
weighs in at 113.2 KG or 249 lbs on a digital scale . Bike ready to race,
fuel , oil , a little extra mud . Every thing of little or no importance has
been removed , Including rider as previously stated . Hey that gives
me an idea if I remove the auto eject mechanism I'll knock off even
more weight !

WOW!!! Just rode the 380 with a dewd from Calgary I will refer to as "Oreo".....Oreo was out with me yesterday riding the 06 FE 450, he regularly rides a 06 KTM 250 XC and rides it pretty well.....Oreo is no cream puff.....a highly regarded Master from the late ninties, Oreo is better versed in a six pack of cheap beer than off-road these days but he still gets out and hauls now and again....just ask one of his fans....the Coffin.....any way this 380 was thought to be nothing more than a de_turned chick bike that might pull the skin off pudding....even Oreo thought it would run like someone jammed a potatoe up the pipe....We were wrong, very wrong, this thing hauls and rails....it feels like its is 20 lbs. lighter but is certainly not some chick 250.....you can ride this thing pinned, in the sweet spot yet there is dtull enough to jam and launch, wheelies are easy yet not as abrupt as with the 450....throttle setiing s are wider ywt it revs out quite far, past where a 250 starts to shut down....very little engine breaking keeps it very balanced through the trees (ps...we ride in the trees).....but it still feels like it pulls hard enought ot climb (ps....we ride in the mountains....the Canadian Rockies....and if you can't climb on this thing, you shouldn't be riding motorcycles)......jetting was excellent and we don"t think jetting was changed.....On another note, Oreo was a 4 stroke hater (mainly because he sucks at riding them) but he fell in love with this "sweet piece of nuclear pie".....he thought this thing ripped because it felt light but still had more than enough jam....but not quite as much as the 450 so Oreo could ride it all day long in the meat of the power where revs count and in this case work very well......no light throttle abruptness yet still more than enough to wheelie big......another thing, the front end. The best way to revalve your 4stk forks,,,,, take away engine braking.

You (or Brett) need to find a dealer here in Washington state to come demo that 380 for, I'm sure it would be a hit.

Hmmm...Oreo...I am not sure I want to know why you refer to that animal as Oreo...I am scared to think about it. Sounds like that 380 is a weapon.

The best part of this post is that we have 2 of the best off-road racers in Canada testing a Husaberg and raving about how great it is!!! Music to my ears.

By the way Chuk..HairFarm or whatever your name is....I noticed another pic of you on the Berg at the Dirtrider site today...you represent us well.

Here is the link...Chuk the HairFarmer at DR24hr

How much US $$$? I think that would be a perfect size for eastern enduros. Back in the orange days I traded a 520 for a 450 and the 450 felt like a toy! However they wieghed the same, horsepower is a funny thing, I would love to try a 380! MORE TELL ME MORE!!!

Bergy

Talk to your dealer, the kits are available/in stock and yes, you'll like it. My thoughts exactly, that it is perfect for eastern 'woods', the northwest, and us Canucks for the 'bush'.

cheers

This is very good news for me, I have been shopping around for a good 250f or even a ktm 200XC, for some of the enduro riding we do here; tight and slow. A 380 kit would be alot more cost effective and I get to keep my berg.

all it is is a 400 piston on the 450 bottom end. you would think that the bike would therefore be a 400 BUT husaberg dropped the stroke and increased the bore humungusly to get to the 450.

i will have a 400 barrel and piston available soon. they're used but still good. rings only 10 meetings old.

Long time since someone wrote in this thread, so I thought it was time now =)

I have recently got myself a 380 -06 and loves it, but it is running quite lean. Jetting right now is 160, 38, OBDWT third of 7 notches.

Does anyone have jetting data suitable for a 380? I would appreciate if you could post it here.

Regards
Anders

Here is what I have been running. I think we got these from Lee....

Main 178
Pilot 38
needle OBDTQ

I forget what slot the needle is in off the top of my head.
This needle taper works really nice with the 380 running a KTM 400 cam.

I am about to put a 380 kit in my 06 450 and would too get some advice from some of you lads on a couple of things. First thing is will it work with my 41mm Carb and has anyone tried with this mod? or will I have to re Jet? and second has any of you tried it with a full Ti exhaust?

Thanks fedge.

I can't say anything about the carb.
But with the exhaust we found the stock header with the akrapovic slip-on worked the best. We tried the full Ti system and found it lost more bottom end than we liked. The full stock system was a little flat on top.
