called allins today the european importers of keihin. for those that don't know, mr phil allin died young about 5 years ago and his widow carried on the business.

24 months ago i called her up to ask if she would sell out the business. "no, i'm doing fine thank you!" was the reply.

alas last february when things weren't going too well she handed the business to the second i/c of the two mwn there. the senior bloke moved on and now andy is trying to make a go of it on his own.

hows your luck!

Taffy

Well with all due respect (and I've used them a number of times and their also just up the road from me) if they continue to ignore the phone, not answer emails or fail to sevice their customers then like any business that does that they'll go to the wall.

Be really sad to see it as I think they've got a great little business there but the 'thumper' boys will just move on and find another source soon.

well i thought my point was fairly clear! i could so easily have become the importer for keihin parts!

but i didn't.

spike, you are right. i've phoned constantly for armin and they just haven't come to the phone. not only that but they ignored all his e-mails. i didn't realise that it was more than just me that had trouble.

they have stopped selling everything except the carb bits because i think that it's all that andy understands not being a tuner/mechanic and all.

he is a motorcyclist coz he was telling me he used to run a FZR400r ten years ago. he blames the slowness on having only himself and a 'packer' there.

Yeah it's not just you mate, a number of guys off the SuperMoto Forum I'm on and some guys off my off-raod form have stopped using them (most now order direct from America).

Sorry to hear the missed opportunity - it 's a shame.

It seems it is also to our detriment. I've had trouble getting them on the phone. On a couple of occasions I just gave up in the end. The last stuff I had through from them took 2 weeks, 1 1/2 weeks of which it was in the post  , cost a fortune and the seal I really needed was a pile of ***** - i.e. the it swelled as soon as I removed the float bowl for the first time to change a jet and never got it back again. I'm getting my stuff from across the pond now, including a DL jet kit.

All the best,
Simon

Re: RE: How is your luck?

All I can say in Allins defence is when I rang them to order a needle it was here in four days, I rang then yesterday phone rang about five times before it was answered I ordered two jets said they would be in the mail that afternoon.
We'll see how long these take.

Sparks.

I thought they were called Allens not Allins.
Allens do Kehin and Mikuni, is this a different company.
