help diagnose unstable/wobbly steering

Hi

Had a accident when i was pulled over suddenly had to brake and resulted in understeering and falled at about 20-30km/h, afterwards the steering feels very strange and unstable.

*The handlebar was a tiny bit bent, bent it back
*The handlebar/fork was also not syncronized completely with the fork/wheel, bent back

the thing is the bike didnt seem to have a rough accident at all, a person has suggested wheel bearing as it seemed to have some play, the bike feels "wobbly" and unstable generally, you would not feel safe at 40-50km/h now at all..

i dont have the bike nearby but plan on having a garageday to diagnose further, i just try to gather information first as im pretty new to this world.

I was wondering maybe its the spokes? Where can i get a cheap but decent wrench with torque for spokes especially? Generally, if someone has knowlegde about great stores for tools/parts/upgrades it would be very nice

Thank you all for looking, i am very glad every time i see a reply, and i hope some day i can contribute a bit more too

Best Regards

Gday mate, when you straightened everything out did you loosen all the fasteners in the front suspension, i.e: the triple clamp bolts, front wheel fasteners, steering stem bolt and pinch bolt ?

p.s. thats a pretty rugged user name.

no i did not, i thought that would be aquired, i didnt touch that bit because i was having this idea that everything loosens nicely, but is going to have to be put back together in a specific way that i had yet to learn

thanks i guess, jihad means to struggle :p

when I have a big stack I loosen the lower triple clamp bolts and the right hand axle clamps on the bottom of the fork

push the front wheel up against the wall and try to bottom out the front end

tighten the lower triple bolts put the bike on a center stand and make sure the RH fork axle lug is happily centered before you tighten it, might need to spread the clamp with a screwdriver.

if it still headshakes check the wheel aligment with bits of string, this is usually what I find wrong when someone complains about headshake

I apologise my friend, my swedish is terrible. I only know the word Husaberg :D

There really isn't much more. Check your front end alignment, wheel bearings and steering head bearings. How far are the forks up through the top triple clamp? Husabergs are VERY stable. If everything checks out in the front, I would check back bearings and swingarm bearings.

Might be a stupid question but, is your wheel round? It's all i can think of other than what the other guys have already said. Bearings, geometry and broken bits, nothing more to it really!

i havent got to work on it yet because i have no personal transportation and its located at a farm a while away, so im trying to collect information as much as possible before i go

is there any diy guides so to say i can have a look at the work you guys are describing? further study of alignement for bikes etc
