Heavier Fly Wheel in my FE250?

I was considering changing my stock Fly Wheel to a heavier unit to get a bit more lugging power from the bike. Has anyone done this? and does it affect the top speed a bit trying to spool up quick?

I hear what you mean about lugging it, I have the same bike and also a 450 which is a traction machine. I did ride a Yamaha 250fx with a Rekluse clutch and I'm going to go that route instead. I found that the Yam and recluse provided a bit more traction and control and saved my clutch hand. This may be a different approach than what you're looking for FWIW.

Love the 250 though it's riot ;)

The only Yamaha I own sez 'Tenere' on the gas tank lol. I like my FE250 enough, just trying to get a bit more luggability(is that a word?) out of it. :p
