Well guys don't spoil a thread that was going really nice so far.
As I am about to remove my exhaust and everything on the left side as I need to fix my "stuck in gear" issue (thanks to Sandskipper for his explanations and photos!), I will wrap my exhaust with heat wrap and also add a piece of heat pad on the carburetor.
Riding on a single track is enough for me to overheat, since I have the idle on high and I keep over-rev to prevent stalling (hence the need for an autoclutch) due to my weight and lack of speed (and confidence) on the single tracks.
I don't have a heat gun but will let you know how it feels.
Also I think the heat protection will pay for itself in MX pants saved.
