Maps maps maps..

here are some topo maps of the ride. the orange line is as the crow (or would that be a sparrow) flies from middlegate to Austin. Bobzilla if you give me some specifics i can map the route.

approximately where are we going to spend sat night?

Risky1 We are starting In Middlegate Station. We will be staying in the town of Austin and the route starts off going west so don't even attempt to map the trail. I change my mind at the spur of the moment but will connect the fuel stops. I have been riding here for 15 years and know some cool washes that do really connect but on a topo you would think not. I learned by trail and error or should I say lower bikes down cliff's. I you have a GPS and know how to use it bring it and teach me some stuff, I have a garmin V but don't know how to do a log very well yet.

Taffy, yea yea I know but I really want to start by 10 so by telling them 830 they won't have to be yelled at soooooooo much. But then again I have a headlight and know where I am going so it really does not matter when I leave. Remember I was never the one to get my panties in a knott. With me its ok were ready now lets go.

Dang this means i have to get my rear brake fixed... I rode one day two weeks ago and had to stop every so often and add brake fluid... not safe! And rear brakes are really nice to have I decided.

Oh DAaaannnnn!

Hey Bob can we get a roll call? lets see how many are planning on attending the bobzilla death march accross the desert.

Also am I free to invite a few skeptics of the husaberg brand? namley so someone there can spank them into submission.

Something telld me there will be a DRZ doing most ofl the spanking this trip.

Ok I know that I am not the most likable person on the site and I need a hair cut but is this all the response I get? Brendan and Risky1 are the only ones going? I know Dez and Tuts had to pass. That was beyond control and I will miss ridding with them :( but....Ok fine ...You can bring a friend that rides anything that will make it. I don't care but if only a couple of you come I will have the N Nevada wrecking crew along for the fun. I really prefer a small group but I am only at 8 riders now and only two from this site. Did I piss everyone off? too hot? too short notice? too far a ride? Moose are you out there? No tag really needed. rooms are cheap. I supply the truck and driver for the chase.
No roll chart it is follow the leader and wait at the corners and keep track of your BUDDY!
If the group stays this small I think I will put some gas out so we can make a side trip to a real cool wash that burned about 10 years ago and the trees are still standing and it looks like the magic forrest. :D

I am ridding from Stonyford to Ft.Bragg this Friday and Saturday. When I get back and have no more interest I will invite the Wrecking Crew.
Risky1 and Brendan you are in for some fun! The wild flowers are in bloom and the creeks are running and the glacier's are almost gone. You wont be disappointed. :D

Riding in the Nevada desert in June may not be appealing to everyone, I agree. September or October would be a much better date at least for myself.

Mr. Zilla,
I got that little problem out of the way ( I think) and have reserved a room at the Best Western and the Lincoln. Do you have Flight for Life up there?
Dez

Dez we got it but wont need it. Glad to hear the good news. I'm stoked. Tuts coming too?

this part of nevada is all above 5000', so temps shouldn't be a problem. i have a girlfriend showing up this weekend (no, not the cute accountant) for the summer, so i'm unable to really plan right now, but i'm pretty interested in this ride. hopefully i won't slow the group down too much. my one real concern is will there be enough beer in austin? it's a long ways to go if they run out. maybe i should bring a keg of homebrew and stash it on the way.

there's a nice hot springs about 20 miles east of austin. bout 3-4 miles off the hiway. i always stop there on my way to/from reno. how many people can pile into your chase vehicle?

Velosapiens (what a cool name, I thought is was a weird sex cult thing at first)
Well the hotsprings  is a good one if it is the one I am thinking of. The chase truck will be my dodge extra cab so how many morons can you fit in a pickup truck with your daughter driving????????
You wont slow anybody down and you will probably be waiting and saying "hurry up". Plenty of beer in Austin and we got the truck going with Ice chests
No stair steps but plenty of single track/washes and ridgelines. We get to go through the Quakies in a couple of places too.

haahahha!!! Your modesty is going to make me :puke:. It would be funny once Velosapiens reaches his alcohol saturation point, if everyone started speaking with an accent, and then kept changing it once Velo adapts. The crème de la crème would be everyone speaking like those holy rollers. Maybe I will watch some Benny Hinn before I go over there. Do you have those Motosapiens.net graphics kit made yet? I am ready for a set.

If fewer people means seeing more neat stuff, then maybe fewer people attending is a good thing?

Bob,
I won't know until the last minute, but it looks like I will be driving up to Fallon solo. Tuts has some priorities to attend to in June that he will be preoccupied with. I, on the other hand, will make a business trip out of it and visit some of my Northern Nevada association members the day before the ride.
Can't wait to try out my new M-12's.
Dez

well, poo. looks like i'm probably out. i've been sort of committed to a trailwork weekend on the ranger trail here in town. since i played a significant role in keeping it open to motorized use, i think i otta show up and help work on the couple of problem sections. if something changes, i'll get back in touch.

on the plus side, it will only be 4 hrs of work each day, with the rest of the time devoted to riding, drinking beer, camping out, and general frolic and frivolity.

mw

Well, it looks like I can get the day off. I made reservations at the Lincoln. I will probably be riding a "yellow pig" so I hope I won't hold you guys up too much.
Sounds like an awesome ride!
