Fun/not so fun weekend

The weekend trip to Lehman was pretty bitchin until the second ride Mark and I did on Sunday. Mark had a head on collision with another motorcycle around a sweeping corner. Mark ended up breaking his femur and the other guy only broke his collar bone and wrist.

Both guys managed to ride out to the road (on bikes) while I tracked down someone with a truck to take us back to Lehman. Then we loaded Mark up in the Tundra and off he and I went to the La Grande hospital.

After x-rays they thought it was best to fly him back to Boise that same night to get he into surgery as soon as possible. I drove back to Lehman to get some sleep and loaded up Monday morning to head home.

I get to La Grande and get cell reception again and notice that I have a new text message. I thought it would be from Mark to let me know which hospital he was at. Wrong, it was my friend Garrett letting me know that our good friend Pica was killed Saturday afternoon on his street bike. That musta been the longest drive home ever. I now have a funeral to go to Thursday. Sheesh, I just lost my grandma a week or so ago and now all this.

Bummer LK!! My condolences.

I think I can speak for just about everyone here when I say that Mark will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Be carefull out there kiddies!! This is becoming all to common place. As our riding places shrink you hear more and more stories of riders colliding with one another head on. It seems to happen once or twice a month out here that someone(or two) get helicopter rides just for this same reason. It's almost always the same scenario. Two guys railing the same blind corner in oposite directions.

I can't imagine having to ride out with a broken femur. That's unreal. Mark, I hope you get healed up quickly. Get well soon.

LK, Please give our best to Mark from the Durango crew, wishes for a healthy and speedy recovery. On the personal side I understand exactly what you are going through I have no more Grandmas left, lost a great young friend "Greg" two years ago (25 yrs, old). All I can say is keep them with love in your heart .

There were 4 total people that went for a street ride. Pica, Chris, my buddy Derrick, and Pica's wife. Once they saw Pica's bike layed over, they all hopped off their bikes and went lookin for him. They found Pica face down in the canal. So they dragged him out and got him breathing. He either died in flight to the hospital or he died when they got there.

Thanks for letting us know the news LK.
Get well wishes for Mark and so truly sorry about your friend and grandmother.

Tell Mark that even with a bum leg, he'll do well when he starts riding a quad!   We'll promise not to call him a "tard".
