at first let me introduce myself as I am quite new on this board (also sorry for my English). I have been riding road sportbikes for almost 10 years now but always wanted to go offroad. that is why I have bought my first enduro bike '02 FE400E and it differs from what I am used to quite a lot
I have been reading this forum for a while and found answers to some of my questions. but some of them still remain and maybe you could help me with that as I have bike start problems both cold or hot.
1. I have adjusted valves and ignition. but on a flywheel i have found 2 marks (there is only mentioned 1 in service manual). I have set ignition on the 1st one that appears in the inspection window turning crank clockwise. is that right? what is the second mark used for?
2. I have cleaned carb. after doing that I've set a standard setting of mixture screw (2.5 out). according to service manual the idling speed should be 1600-1800 rpm. how do you measure that? I am experimenting with mixture screw settings, because the bike just starts when it wants! and there is almost no response from the engine when I am turning mixture screw. the only way to inspect if its right is by the color of spark plug. Maybe you have some thoughts on that?
3.I haven't changed spark plug yet. maybe that could be causing all those troubles (wasnt able to find it in local shops so had to order it from Germany)
4. I have adjusted decompression cables.
