Hi
I can't adjust my carburetor: to start correctly when cold (3-4 kick), the mixture screw must be unscrewed 3-3.5 turns. I increased the size of the pilot jet to 38 then to 42, but no change, the mixture screw still needs to be unscrewed by more than 3 turns. The needle clip is at the 3rd position
Do you have an idea to improve the settings?
Thank you

you are in the wrong place, I wouldn't start from there.
Firstly; tappets
1/6th turn and Taffy's golden rule; you must be able to morse code the rocker arm and hear the tick-tick at the rear licence plate and no further. there is often one of the two tight on each rocker arm.

second, Ignition timing
Watch my videos on Taffmeisters Facebook page in the videos. the 4th and 5th video get it right.

carburettor
we start by having the bike started already and set the pilot screw to highest idle.
start at 1.5 turns out and go to the highest revs, then lower with the idle screw. THEN DO THESE TWO AGAIN.
if the bike is happy at say 1.25 - 1.5 turns out and it matters not which, kickstart the bike in both positions and it will be better in one than the other.

what is thew best position anyway?
0-1 turn = get a smaller PJ.
2+ = get a larger PJ.

when cold, you want the choke open for one kick and then closed for 3-4 kicks and keep going like this until it starts. open for 1, closed for 3-4.

Thank you Taffy for your reply
I controled the valve clearance and put 1/6th turn, but I feel like the noise is metallic (see attached video): cam chain tensioner or valve clearance?
For ignition timing I don't have a strobe so difficult to control, I will manage to find one.

run it with the two rocker caps off and the tick noise will coincide with either the inlest or the exhausts.

Hang the fuel tank up and use 1m of fuel line.
