FS650e lash in driveline?

Afternoon all,

I'm just trying to sort out the gremlins on my recently acquired FS650e, usual stuff like supercharged whining noise, problems with e-start etc but one thing i'm having no luck with is the 'lash' in the driveline it seems to have.

When applying the throttle it seems to take up a bit of slack somewhere and then drive, it gets annoying on the slow speed twisty stuff. I was convinced it was the cush drive hub so I bought some spanking new rubbers from Taffy and its exactly the same. Sprockets are almost new, the chain LOOKS good but I haven't removed it to check for stretch.

Has anyone got any ideas? is it in the gearbox or clutch? or do they just all do this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Ben.

it'll be your chain adjustment. you're meant to lean over the seat with your chest pressing down hard and then pull the swing arm up with your right hand while checking the chain in the middle of the top run with your left. max movement should be 20mm. I bet you have loads and loads more.

One time chain adjustment take off shock. Now move tire up and down till you find tightest spot. Adjust to that point your chain will not get any tighter so very little play. Now look down the length of chain to see if it's straight. Adjust left or right as needed to get it straight. Recheck the chain again. If all is good. When all this is done put shock back on then measure the play. Write it down.

Thanks for the replies all, to be honest chain tension SEEMS fine, no excess sagging at all, if anything I thought it looked a tad on the tight side but I'll get it bang on before looking further. Thanks again!

I would go as far as even checking the steering head for looseness or worn bearings.
