Ok my zeta handguards took quite a beating already but they still do the job:mrgreen:
I prefer the looks of those racetechs look realy nice:cool: (maybe i buy them later )
But first spend some money replacing my bars/front brake reservoir from my latest crash:rolleyes:

This is such a bad day to read the news, but I'm telling you this has nothing to do with April fools

Yesterday I was going to work and felt the clutch slowly loosing pressure. It had never happened to me and I thought maybe it had something to do with the little red tuner. So I pulled over and rotated it all the way out, it usually stops at some point, but it didn't this time, I found that odd. As soon as I took over and gave it a look, there was no more tuner there...

I'm talking about that little red thing there, just the star shaped thing, everything else seems to be there, but I might be wrong as well...

When I got to work I found a screwdriver and popped the cap out of the reservoir. It was like 1/4 filled... so definitively the oil is missing there, and I hope that's all.

I took some photos of it (nevermind all the little dots, too much polen in the air):

As you can see, there's no traces of oil spilling either on the master or slave cylinders.

I have a few questions for you guys, hope some of you can help a noob:

1. I'm going to [try to] solve this myself. I heard about a Magura kit to bleed it, what do I need other than the mineral oil?

2. Although it might seem easy to fix, I would like to make sure I don't run into another one of this soon. What should I look for? Any seals that might need replacing? I found no traces of oil, did it just evaporate?

3. The only thing I had changed from my routine is using the kickstarter on a daily basis instead of the magic button. So I use the decomp lever pretty much every time I start it. Is it possible it might be doing something to the cap?

4. What about the red tuner, where can I find that?

Hope you can shed some light in my way. Remember I have never done this before and I'm not really a mechanics guy, I'm just trying to learn something on the way.

Thanks!

There's a magura rebuild kit out there that is kinda spendy and kind of tricky to put in. darn spring gets lost everytime I've done it (i'm totally incompetent). Anyway, just try bleeding the clutch with some fresh magura oil and adjusting it. It's the likely culprit.

can use a syringe jammed into the bleed port on the slave cylinder to reverse flush the system

I use BP bartran HV15 which is like 2.5wt suspension fluid, others use baby oil (mineral oil) from a pharmacy)

if theres no oil leak visible at the master then any oil that has been lost will have gone into the engine so the o ring on the slave needs to be replaced.. but just bleed (fill with new oil) first and see how it goes.

the red thing goes missing sometimes. i think it breaks or falls off. usually there is enough of the adjusting mechanism left to still be able to make the adjustment work but you need a pair of pliers to turn the bolt. if its totally gone then look out for someone with a a kid racing KTMs they break the alloy levers all the time and could have a box full of parts.

bergsmlergs thread may also be useful http://husaberg.org/mechanical/20073-2009-fe570-clutch-mc-rebuild-2.html#post160155

Thanks both of you!
I guess the reverse method would suit me best. I'm yet to order a syringe with the tube (what diameter is that tube btw?).

bergsmlerg's thread will definitively come in handy!

not sure on the diameter its got to be a tight fit to handle the pressure so say a 2-3mm ID but need to stretch it over the 6mm bleed nipple, can use a cable tie for a hose clamp
