How come you don't hear the wind in your videos?
Ohh I wish! There is wind in my videos but probably not that noticeable because I don't usually ride that fast around town so the wind is not that much, even with the skeleton cover. Also maybe the sides of the helmet are not where much of the wind goes to.

I've tested earlier on the chest (https://youtu.be/bQqVxzFbejM) and you could hear it much clearly. It may vary from bike to bike and helmet to helmet.

Was thinking about mounting my GoPro 2 on the steering "pole" (forgot what it's called :D)

Is the skeleton cover the one that's open in the back? :p

Mounting it on the handlebar (there you go ;)) will get too many vibrations. Actually anywhere on the bike will get you vibrations, I'd say.

I'm yet to test a secondary point of view but will probably end up to be on the bike as well.

Yep, the skeleton cover is the open one.

Wont buy the one for the handle bar then!

Do you recommend on the side of the helmet, or on top of it?
Got a GoPro mounting thing on the "cap" of the helmet. Havent really tried it out alot other then when i drove motocross.. Can't find the rest to attach my GoPro to the helmet, so haven't been able to test it out on the road yet..

(Just want to make sure before i spend a bunch of cash on stuff i don't need, and will never use) ^^

I personally like it better on the side of the helmet. Got friends using it under the visor (in front of the chin) and above the helmet. I think it's more of an exercise to find the point of view most appealing to you and the one that doesn't catch much wind noise.

Here's my setup on a SHOEI XR1100:

That ribbon under the helmet is strapped to the inner locking system of the helmet, so in case the 3M sticky part fails I don't loose the camera.

This is the old GoPro, the new one fits there as well.

The ribbon looks like this:

Today I started preparing the footpegs for painting.

1_2014-08-10-18.08.21.jpg

At first I was trying to get the split pin out intact but then I realised it didn't want to, so I just cut the hell out of it and got some new ones.

2_2014-08-10-18.09.09.jpg

Footpegs out, somehow dirty...

3_2014-08-10-18.09.54.jpg

...and with some points of rust.

4_2014-08-10-19.34.46.jpg

After lots of patience burned.

5_2014-08-10-19.35.15.jpg

It's not perfect but there are some tiny areas where it really is challenging to get to with sandpaper/file/steel brush.

Tomorrow I will start the painting, will post progress as well :)

You should paint some of the small motor parts aswell.. The bike would looks so cool.

Might start doing some work on my bike once the winter is here. Wont risk taking anything apart now, i will ruin something, and the rest of the "summer" will be wasted.

I'm seriously considering painting the spoke nipples in yellow, but that's a thing to do in the rain season :)

Great Bike!!
I own a 650 FE 2008, brand new from Sociedade Comercial do Vouga

If you need anything, give me a call or ride to Coimbra

It's still drying up, but here they are:

6_2014-08-11-15.41.49.jpg

I guessed I would paint this horrible plastic pieces as well since I was already painting.

7_2014-08-11-15.41.56.jpg

I think it'll look great along with the brake lines' protection.

8_2014-08-11-15.42.19.jpg

Here's the piece. Not white, not transparent and it looks like it gets worse with time.

13_2014-08-13-16.25.32.jpg

Let's see how long will this stick.

9_2014-08-11-16.21.37.jpg

Also took the chance and widened a bit the angle I was getting in the mirrors.

10_2014-08-11-16.22.30.jpg

It was a bit like a V angle before, now its a less pronounced V so I can see a bit more of what's behind.

15_2014-08-13-16.26.55.jpg

The footpegs are still drying up, but it looks like it'll look cool. The question now is how long will the paint stick to it?

For now it was good for entertain myself and learn how to paint, had never done it before.
If by any chance this comes out easily I'll be forced to take the footpegs out once again and find another way to do it...

Now I'm at that stage of "this is already taking too much time to dry up..."
:furious::furious::furious:

Depends on what kinda paint you used.. Some stuff will last alot longer then other stuff.

Looks cool tho, keep up the work! Need inspiration on what to fix on my bike

Thanks to bush I finally got my hands on that wolf logo so I was able to sketch something quick that might replace this sticker on the rear fender:

with this:

(the yellow border is just the boundaries of the sticker)

wicked !

edit; i see a problem .. the wolfs tail is not fastened correctly

What do you mean bush?
The tail and one of the legs were hanging out a bit on the original one but I like it that way. The thing I don't quite like is the H and G are not well integrated in the lines of the background form.

Will probably spend a bit more time into this.

Awesome job old , be better than buying off the floor, ill be keeping in the glass museum
To good to get it dirty.
Sticker...... I'm sure sign writing pple able make one the way u want it eg fix the "h" & "g"

I guess I did something more pleasant to the eyes (mine at least):

Again, the border will not be printed, the black background is how it'll look on the bike.

:)

sumthing to try "play wif" drawing
As above on left .......have yellow thin out line right round like the one on right......
Instead of black wolf & rock...... Try yellow ..... Background of the wolf.... Where's its yellow.... Try black....

Unless u guys left & right opposite to us?
Ps.. or try in blue in colour all together ?

I tried inverting the colors as well, but it made no sense to me so it didn't made it too far. For me it makes sense like this as if there was a sun on the back (yellow) and the silhouettes of the wolf and rock turned black.

Regarding the thin outline, I honestly liked how it looked on the screen but I must not forget it will be printed with roughly 7cm across so it might not be that noticeable :D

The blue works as well! But i'm trying not to add any more blue on this bike.

Here's a small update after painting and re-installing the footpegs.

These brackets are much nicer now! The white-ish plastic was driving me nuts...

04_2014-08-19-16.05.19.jpg

The footpegs are back in place. Even after all the time I waited for them to dry out, on the top peaks it's already missing some paint... Sad!

This was somehow a surprise! I've read somewhere else to use WD40 on the exhaust headers before riding it. It's supposed to create this golden/bluish (depends on the temperature) layer on the headers that will also protect it against future rust (so they say). At least it works as supposed. I'll continue to do it until I see no progress.

It smokes a bit of the oil when I first start it but after a few seconds it was gone.
