Frozen shock rebound adjuster

So... I'm in the middle of greasing and cleaning stuff and I notice that -

#1 - Somewhere along the line my shock spring got put on upside down (Not by me)...

#2 - My rebound clicker is frozen solid.

Remedied #1 by turning the spring over, as for #2, I'm at a loss. Without tearing the shock apart, is there something I can do, I've been spraying with WD-40 and letting it sit etc...

Thanks,

Jason

it happens all the time. WD is your cheap hope otherwise go over to KTMtalk.com and suspension. it comes up every three or four days!

BTW, whatever you do, don't over try or you'll snap the special screw.

Taffy

The shock spring works whatever way it is installed, doesn't matter. This applies to straight rate springs as well as progressive.

There is not an up or down orientation as far as spring function.

Thanks, after I posted that, I thought about it and...

Thanks Taffy,

I figured on not using the "ARM-strong" method to free the adjuster... I'm going to WD the heck outta' it and hope it frees up, else I'll wait 'til I have time to get the shock serviced.

I will second Taff's remarks here. Had the one on my 04 sieze a while back.

You just have to keep soaking it and work it very gently back and forth, if it breaks, you get to buy an new shock.

You might try a product called Kroil. I think it's the best penetrating oil there is, and their claim is that it will creep into a space one millionth of an inch in opening. Be patient. And yes, a good suspension guy will get you going, but, he's going to have to soak it as well until it free's up.

Well at least I can still ride it... I spoke with the guys and Lansing Cycle / Enduro Engineering and they also said that this is a common problem on KTM's and they have had good luck fixing it even if the adjuster is still frozen.
