frame differences between 94 FE501 and 97 FE501e?

Hi there,

I have shipped my 97 Berg to Austria, and getting a title is a major hassle. So my 'creative' idea is to buy a 94 FE501 frame with title, and just change the numbers. If this should not work, I would need to swap the engine.

The reason why I would like to get a title and a license plate: it makes border crossings a lot easier. People get really curious if they see a California license plate on an Austrian trailer ...

Thanks,

Franz

besides differences between e-start models and kickstart models ( in e-start models the frame makes room for the electrical starter which is in front)

1994 the front frame tube ( infront of the exhaust) split in 2 smaller tubes. its the design you see on every husaberg untill 2008.
1993 and back they used the husqvarna design in which the big frame tube goes all the way down to the bottom of the engine.

so i think that some early 1994 bikes still used the old husqvarna design ( typical for husaberg to mix frames-engines-suspension e.t.c. in years of changing)
.

but even though it has an earlier design i think it would be very easy to mount the engine.

but if you got an e-start then you got a problem in this case.

Thank you for your answers. From the picture, it seems to be a Husqvarna frame, and therefore I won't be able to fit the e-start motor in there.

Thanks again,

Franz

so basically what you are saying oyk is the frame is the same from 94 ish right thru 2008? does this mean i could rebuild my 97 fe600 kick model and install an fe650 engine?

no sorry,
94 through 1999 remains the same.
then in 2000 they changed the frame but the engine remains the same.

but in 2001 they designed a new engine along with a new swingarm.
the two mounting blocks on the motor that the swingarm goes in, i think they are different from the older motors that were mounted with the old (almost ancient) swingarm.

in a few words, putting a 650 engine in an older frame is surely not a plug and play job.

put a killer 2000 600 engine instead......

i just notice you have a 1997 600 engine already.
rebuild with all new parts (con rod , piston, rollers etc).
be careful in the assebly prosess for the right axial tolerance of the ball bearings in the crankshaft.

order a camshaft from fc400. 53 is the name of the cam.

order also a ignition coil from a fc 400.

order a full arrow exhaust titanium system from a fc600 2000.

install a keihin fcr41.

make the TRANSFORMER MOD.

then you will have nearly 60 hp exploding and raw horsepower , a killer bike truly.

it will be also bullet proof if you take good care of it...
