Hi Guys,

I thought I start a new thread to pull the others together.

We need to answer a few questions:

1 Do we want to do it?
If the answer is yes

2 When?
Is around Easter good timing? It aligns with school holidays which can help some and hinder others. It also means that a ride park like Louee is in demand, and probably already booked up. We certainly can’t book the shearers quarters at Louee because the mini bike clubs are already there. I have a booking in place at the moment for Easter 2008, made on spec some months ago when we kicked this off but this is more a statement of intent and we need to confirm or cancel or postpone. We seem to have previously voted for the week after Easter.

3 Where?
Somewhere that offers, basic cheap accommodation and cold beer, good riding and is as geographically central as possible. Louee does seem to fit those criteria. The riding it offers is:
a Track based, MX SX, Thumpers, or GT. The SX and MX get the maintenance though.
b Bush. A mix of rough fire trails and single track. The tracks are graded Blue, easy, Red, intermediate, and Black, hard. It has all suffered with use and the drought, so it is rutted, rocky and whooped. Even the Blue has its traps and is only really 'easy' in the sense that there are no hills. I reckon its great fun and I loved it, others suffered a bit. I did just on 150 km over the 2 days, a couple of GT laps and the rest out in the bush, I didn’t do all of the trails, but did do some loops a few times. I probably only did about 30 km on Sunday, so about 120 km on Saturday for me was great, but then I like riding.

Louee is also OK for unregistered bikes and unlicensed riders, of which we had one or two the other day.

If we go for Louee again and the week after Easter then as others have pointed out it is possible to add some involvement with the Condo 750, a 2 day navigational rally like the Safari or Dakar. OrangeBerg gets involved in that one. Cafey18 has also indicated that in the days between he would lead a ride or two on the fire trails around the area, Bathurst and Sunny Corner, etc. This is the sort of riding that Louee does not offer, and would require rego and license.

4 How much organising do we want to do? It seems that we could get a block booking for the pub and then let individuals confirm by a set date before we lose it and then just let Louee know we are coming.

What do I reckon? Louee will do the job for the above reasons. If cafey18 can lead a day or two in the hills nearby then I reckon it’ll be perfect. It’ll also justify travelling, more riding than just a weekend will be on offer. Spectating/riding the Condo also sounds interesting.

So
Do we do it?
When?
Where?

Steve

Good idea Steve. This thread can deal with organising next years ride only.
Here is my plan, see what you think.

1) Those who wish to do an outback ride and or watch the Condo 750, do so with ORANGEBERG to lead a ride out there.
Check out the website for accommodation and details http://condo750.com.au/

2) Monday 24th to Thursday 27th, self guided tourist stuff and rides for those who wish to. Or do an outback ride with ORANGEBERG after the Condo 750.

3) Friday 28th I lead a ride through forest and fire trails from Bathurst over to Louee. A fine night to be had by all at the Pub. Eat drink and be merry !!!! Yes you can come "Merry John".

4) Saturday 29th riding at Louee bike park. Followed by another fine night at Lue pub.

5) Sunday 30th riding at Louee bike park or another forest trail ride depending on commitments and or mood or physical condition !!!

Well that's a start I reckon. Bring on the comments and suggestions.

Cheers :D
Garry.

So is anyone interested in doing this in 2008? It has gone very quiet. Suggestions, comments? A plan more or less exists, but is it what you want, tell us, good, or bad, or we'll just forget about it.

Steve

hey steve yes iwould do it in 2008 and at louee they had evrything you could need or want i liked the enduro tracks some where technical. my only concern is if it's held in march (easter) is it going to be hot & dusty or would it be better around may / june when the cool snap comes hopefully with rain anyway ther just my thoughts i will be ther next year if we could pull it all together. cheers flatchat

It depends on the weather at the time i think. It can vary a fair bit around that time of the year. If it's a bit hot our English visitors may melt !!!!! I say "Welcome to Australia Mate", take the good with the bad and just have a great time. Holes in radiators included !!!!

Force ride 08

Hey Guys, count me in for sure :D

I'm with flatchat on the date being a bit later. It seems that the place is going to be over-run over the Easter break & might be better organised after. I've probably got to bring the kids next year if I want to go so I pretty well have to stay at Louee ( unless I organise another dirtbike family holiday)

I'd love to do some riding in between Bathurst & Louee after driving it going for parts last force ride ( all 5 hrs of it ). All I remember saying as I was going over the mountain range was " I'd love to do this on my Berg " so I'll quite happily be your sweep for the event Cafey.

The other advantage with having it a bit later is we could book the whole shearers quarters which holds 40 people ( + a berg dealer & crew in front of the fire ).

The last public holiday is the Anzac day Friday 25th April if this was late enough to get some cooler weather.

Either way I'm in but as Steve said, we need to start organising accomodation now to guarantee we get the whole shearers quarters.

Cheers,

Wal

RE: Force ride 08

G'Day Wal,
I'm easy guys, it doesn't worry me when it is. I didn't think of the Anzac holiday being a Friday next year. Good point Wal. That might be the date then as it should satisfy all the criteria !!!! If we can organise drivers to get vehicles and gear from Bathurst to Louee, then we could have that Friday as the ride I lead over to Louee. And then the weekend could be much the same as this years event.
How's this sounding so far?
Garry

At least if we can incorporate 1 p/hol its 1 less annual leave day people have to take. If we can make most the organised rides on the weekend it allows more people to participate.

So lets say April 25, 26 and 27 2008. How does that suit everyone? Come on people, comments please. The sooner we set the date the better for everyone.
I would expect Husaberg Australia would play a much larger role in the event and not just leave it to one dealer to support, (thanks John).

When to have Aus force 08 ride ?

OK GUYS WE NEED SOME INPUT HERE...IS THIS THING ON ???

Without any input it makes it impossible to organise an event This isnt just a ride, it an event for liked minded individuals to get together & say hoorah to Husaberg's in general & consume beer. It's our event. This years event started out with 4 blokes going to do some recon for the original first ride next year. It wound up being 20 or so people that had a blast with almost no organisation at all.

If everyone that went thought the place sucked then say something...anything & give a suggestion of where else to have it. :D

Everyone has to get on board to make it happen, some just do a little more than others but as long as it happens at the end of the day, we all win.

Cheers,

Wal

RE: When to have Aus force 08 ride ?

Hi Wal/Gary/Steve

Its been a while since I've posted any messages. Hope your all doing well.

I am yet to find a detailed ride review of Louee complex (single trail and MX/thumper tracks) so I thought I'd put down my opinion. In short, I was disappointed by the amount of "expert" single trail tracks (probably only 30km out of 150km available) which in my opinion was not overly difficult. The remainder was open single trail with an occasional hill. The MX and Thumper tracks were like riding on concrete; extremely hard packed rutted terrain although I wasn't expecting it be anything different given the drought situation. The ride experience was not what we (Geelong Crew) expected. To travel 1100kms for 100kms of riding at Louee definitely wasn't worth it. I wouldn't waste my time going there again.

On the flip side, socially we all had a great time. Keeping my mates (non-Husaberg riders) under control
at the pub was extremely difficult after a few lagers. Whoever experienced their crap don't take it personally, they just enjoy a turd-stir.

We also did a ride at Sunny Corner (near Bathurst). This was very enjoyable and extremely difficult at times. Steep and rocky was the order of the day. We didn't know our way around there, but what we did ride was great. Thanks Gary for the directions.

Regarding Force 2008 - I recommend either Victorian High Country(Jamieson/Licola/Dargo/Harrietville) or the Otway Ranges (Lorne/Gellibrand/Forest). If it has to be in NSW I'd recommend Gary lead 2days in Sunny Corner/Lithgow; 1 day at Louee for those who want to experience it.

Cheers

Carl

Okay fellas,

I'm in at this point definately, (though Tara is expecting our second Bub in late January) she is keen to come along and I have 2 mates in tow, and keen, both will probably be Katoom mounted by then (L)

the week after the easter hols is good for us all at this point, but even if they pull the pin, Tara, Taya and myself will make the journey.

Looking forward to catching up with a lot of you then, but im in anyway no matter where the dice rolls.

Azza.

PS> Adelaide Crusty Demons show was excellent!!! seriously fun!!

Hi Carl,
Welcome back mate !!!! Good comments mate, that's exactly what we need, peoples honest opinions. I'm a bit like Azza, in that I don't really care where it is. However you do have my interest in the Victorian high country. Steve may have some input in that area as well.
So what do you suggest in the way of accommodation and the mandatory PUB ? I presume the riding is great from all reports.
Cheers :D
Garry.

Hey Hamberger, good to hear from you.

Thanks for the honest report. I'd agree that Louee wasn't overly exciting to ride. I've never been riding at Sunny Corner so any further info you can provide would be good. I've got a huge drive anyway so whats another 2 hrs ?

A fair bit or organising would have to come from guys down that way if it was going to be at different venues. Just things like starting points, tracks & local accomodation. If anyone living that way had a property, guys that have travelled ( like myself ) could possibly camp in the backyard etc for a couple of days...just to help keep costs down & promote cross beer pollenation  Up here the local PCYC helps run the show & puts on a barbie at night & everone camps in the carpark of a local forrest or alike.

I intend to have a 6m long enclosed trailer by then so could possibly help with logistics. Only thing not really addressed is what happens to the guys with un-registered bikes...?

Good to see some life back in the gang.

Wal

vic high country hey that sound s good i know it very well and have maps for all that area. if nobody minds camping theres a good camp ground at buckland valley. with toilets no showers though. iam heading there this weekend riding to dargo (already snowing there). me and paul try to get up there 1-2 times per month very good riding. see how things pan out . cheers flatchat

hey cafey 18 if your intrested in vic high country i will pm you next time we go 1-2 times per month if you want to try it out let us know your most welcome cheers shane

Sounds great Shane. Why don't you post some dates here for all to see and we might get another mini Force recon ride together. I really need dates well in advance as my schedule is rather hectic. But if I can book a date in the diary then I am there. See what you can come up with and let us know.
Cheers :D
Garry.

Hi All

I'm willing to lead a 2-3 day ride in the Otway Ranges for Force Ride 2008 (Day1 - Anglesea/Deans Marsh, Day2 - Barwon Downs/Wye River, Day3 - Gellibrand) next year, as long as its not at Easter (Family Camp Holiday). It will probably be in Mid-May. There are plenty of options on accomodation/pubs/camping which I'll put together.

I'll need to get some numbers on how many riders to cater for. Since this will determine where we stay. So for everyone who's interested please email me directly, with Name and Contact Number. I'll collate a list and start looking at potential accomodation.

Cheers Carl

Hi Guys,

I'm a member of AMTRA. We run the Annual High Country Ride over two days from our setup facility at Abbeyard. This event runs on the ANZAC day long weekend. This year we had BMW along with the new X Challenge, it would be good to have team Berg along - I should even be able to get you a separate camping area if you can get some numbers !

The big Bergs make light work of the high country. My big gruntmonster '04 650 is usually running one-two gears higher than most other bikes. That leads to excellent fuel economy 130k for a 9L tank. And the comfy seat means I'm one of the few who can leave the anusol at home ! :D

hey cafey 18 just got back from the dargo run w hat a weekend that was 180mm rain non stop and trees down everywhere 4 hrs to do 16km. but it was all fun. have got some dates for you to look at and anyone else intersted in coming up the bucklandvalley july 20,21,22 aug 25,26,27 and aug 31 sept1,2. there is accomadation in porpunka for any one who doesnt like camping. i like camping so we camp.let usw know whgat you think.and i can go into finer details later. ps EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME TO COME AND JOIN US FOR A RIDE . ME AND PAUL WILL BE THERE ON THOSE DATES. pm me if you want to come cheers flatchat 8)
