Where ever we park the motorhome, USA
I've been corresponding with a guy from KtmTalk. He lives in northern Utah and has a lot of good local knowledge. He can't join us, but he did send me maps, written directions for trails, and GPS waypoints.

I need someone that is more adept at downloading GPS stuff and also, some of the attachments are .docs and .bmp

I think I'm the only person on the Internet that doesn't have MS Office, so I need someone to open these attachments for us.

So you wants to give me their email address so I can forward this email? If a couple guys will print these maps and load the GPS info, we can break into several groups and ride different areas simultaneously instead of a 20+ bike freight train
 
I use openoffice /http://www.openoffice.org/ instead of MIcro$oft's rip off Office. Openoffice is free, and will solve your lack of MS office problem.

What is wrong with a 20+ bikes riding around? We could be like James Dean in those old movies! :twisted:
 
For a short ride or 2, the freight train is ok When we go on a long ride, the fast guys typically prefer to break away in smaller groups so that they can go farther faster.

I'm trying to have several options available for everyone.

There will be a fews quads and kids, so we need to accomodate their riding skills as well.

I still would like to share the GPS info and maps so other people can lead smaller groups if they choose.
 
Send me the gps and I will see if I can load it to my garmin. I loaded several off the Utah places to ride site. Try and tell me the difficulty level so I can try and make a note for what track log is what. No promises but I'll try. I use the gps a lot but don't make maps or make tracks from maps.
I also got some info from a guy on Thumper talk that explained difficulty of different trails and got the lat 40 maps for the moab area.

The doc file sent to you was simply a paragraph at the top with a forum post from KTM talk embedded. Unfortunately, they didn't strip the javascript when they created the doc, and it just crashes programs that try to open it(plus make it ugly to look at), so here's what they wrote at the top, the link to the KTMTalk post that he was copying, and the images and coords below.

One of my wife's favorite rides around Moab is Klondike Bluffs. It has a variety of dirt road, a few rocky spots, a few sandy spots, and lots of slickrock. And the dinosaur footprints are interesting.

A really easy ride would be Onion Creek. If you stay on the road it has numerous smooth and easy stream crossings. You could also head up Cottonwood Canyon to the bottom of Rose Garden Hill. The section between Onion Creek and Rose Garden is a fun and easy stretch.

Another easy ride, but longer, would be the dirt road south from Dewey Bridge (I forgot the name). The road out on Seven Mile Mesa to the rim overlooking the Dolores River is fun and easy.

For a bit more challenge take the 5 mile spur up to Top Of The World for the best view in the Moab area.

The Gemini Bridges area has plenty of fairly easy jeep roads, but I think they are kind of rocky and not all that fun. The Monitor & Merrimac area is a little sandy for my wife.

Hurrah Pass is real easy. Too easy and boring for me. But there are spur trails that might be of interest. If it isn't too cold to get your feet wet you could go part way up Kane Creek. The first 5 miles is sort of rocky, and then you get in to the many stream crossings and banked turns through the brush. That section is really fun, but be careful of traffic coming the other way. If you go too far you will reach the hard rocky section.

Over by Ruby Ranch:
There is a fun ATV trail that heads due west from the turnoff down to the White Wash sand dunes. This trail heads down to the Green River.

Salt Wash is an easy road, and there are numerous spur roads to explore. Not all that scenic though.

If you head over to the San Rafael Swell you could ride Black Dragon Wash (from either the top or the bottom). That is one of our families favorites.

These are just some of the really easy rides. There are many intermediate to advanced trails to choose from.
