Hahaha you do make a good point. Well hopefully the KTM Carbon 4.1 will fit my fe390 from the sounds of things all the ktm 4-stroke mufflers are the same as the Husabergs?

@ THEBIGNESS whats the #045268 from which ktm?

All the KTM and Husaberg 4-stroke enduro models I've seen can use the same muffler. From 250 -06 to 570 -12.

Strange though that the FMF's mufflers look different on the pictures.
Any FMF owner that can tell us if the FMF muffler comes with only one pad-eye to suspend it in, and if so do it still fit the "normal" KTM-husa 2 point mount?

You asked if anyone has anything to say about acra:
I personally use acrapovic and I'm very happy with that. I use the dB killer (an insert) if I want to have it more silent and I go fully open when I want to have fun on roads.

This is me and my 570 the first time I try the acra.

It is very loud when I give full throttle without the dB killer, but it is so much more fun as I can feel that the engine is not restricted when I get to higher revs. It also starts much easier (almost instant) and the engine is snappier. This is a 570 so I guess its more silent on a 450 or a 390.
I havent heard a FMF muffler so I cant compare. I do love the acra sound, dB killed or not, and on lower revs its just nice and not to loud.

I'm planning to make a film where I compare original muffler, acra with dB killer and full open acra. Set up the camera identical for all 3 versions and go through idle, rev up and driving. Later sometime..

edit: for some reason I get an error if I try to watch my embedded youtube here. If you have trouble this is the adress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8ftj_Zq768
Copy and paste it, the link give me error too...

Sweet video! WOW you can really hear the difference of the Akrapovic, I wonder what a 390 with an Akra sounds like would imagine it'd be heaps rev'y. Thanks

I do know that my FE570 muffler fit my friends KTM 250 EXC -06. I had a FE390 before my 570 and that muffler looks the same. My impression is that mufflers are quite compatible over model and brand when it comes to KTM-Husaberg.

...
Are you absolutely sure about that your friend has a 2006 250EXC-F ?
In my world the EXC-F got the new engine in 2007 and the new chassi in 2008. The SX-F on the other hand got the new engine in 2006.
The article number for the muffler are the same for 2005 and 2006 but changes in 2007.

And again...

Be patient with me, I'm just trying to make sure no one makes a mistake regarding year confusion :D

Maybe you are right Jocke! I'm only going by what my friend always has told me, -06. I havent seen any numbers on paper so who knows, my friend could be wrong as he bought it used on blocket.se ;)

But this is how it looks: http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/ktm_250_exc_racing_2006.php
I'm quite sure that muffler fits my bike too.

I guess I could put in a disclaimer though, I havent seen any proof that my friends bike is a 2006.

I just recently purchased a 2011 FE 570S (and I'm a new member here too) After scouring through some online parts fiches, I decided to go ahead and give purchasing a KTM specific exhaust a shot. I went with the newest FMF Factory 4.1 RCT Blue Anodized Titanium (because stainless was back ordered) slip on FMF part #045403. I am happy to report that the slip on fit without any issues--no grinding, no extra spacers, just slip right on.

Two things to note. It appears that the the midpipe on the KTM's may be ~0.5-1 cm longer (or the mounting points are this distance further forward on the KTM) as the slip on will not butt up against the midpipe the same as the stock one. I do not notice any leaks at the junction, but I plan on adding some Ultra Copper RTV silicone just to be safe. The second thing I feel should be noted is the sound output  The exhaust did come with a spark arrestor/94 dB insert which I have not had the opportunity of installing. Hopefully this will quiet it down a bit. I hope this helps anyone on the fence about getting a blue slip on.

Has anyone on this forum went from the modified stock "KTM" muffler to the FMF? If they did how what kind of power and noise difference was noted.

Sean, did the quiet insert quiet it enough for you? I keep hearing some people say they're going to the Q4, after buying the 4.1 due to excessive noise.
