I did it!!!!! I posted pictures, there is hope for an old dawg yet. Anyway, in the above photos, the Duct Tape is just there until the silicone sets up. I may end up making a rubber boot around the rods at the pass through on the fender. Where the two stainless nuts are visible, they are actually below the height of the inner fender, so the tire should not contact them because the inner fender will hit the tire first if I bottom out the suspension, which i do occasionally. Also, not visible in the photo, I sandwiched a nice metal plate between the fender and the inner fender which the bolts attach through all three and spread the support out in a wider area. The plate, is approximately 1/8th inch thick and 1/2 inch wide and was made in a V shape following the V in the fender/inner fender at this location. The plate is approximateely 3 inches long.

If anyone would like to make a set of these in Aluminum, I'd be willing to get together on that and offer my fabrication here as a pattern. I don't have a way to weld aluminum, or I would have built the support out of aluminum myself.
