Ok, stupid question. I just installed a new Big Bore system with new aluminum coated pipe on my Fe 600 (1998). Started it up in the garge to see how she sounded and flames were shooting out comming off the throttle. I thought maybe there was some particals in the can so I let it cool down and tried it an hour later...same thing. Is this normal? It did not do this before with the old unit I had on.
Advice please from my Berger masters!
Thanks

Come on guys, Im out in the garage freezing waiting to put my bike together---help a brother out, there's 48 of you on here, doesn't someone know?
thanks.

freezing? in LA?! i was there the other day and it was damn near 80 degrees... whaaaaa.

sorry can't help ya out man. just fire it up and keep your hands warm by the flame :)

Sounds like a jetting problem to me. Or perhaps air "in-leakage" (we have a special word for that in Swedish, how about you?) in the system somewhere. Probably nothing to worry about.

Risky, I about feel of my stool--that was funny!!! Ok fine, I'll deal wth it tomorrow, South Parjk is on anyway :p .

I also had some flames after I cleaned and olied my air filter the other day and bike was running a bit rough. The air intake might be more from removal of dirt or less from more Oil ?? Might be a fuel/air mixture problem unless it is a coincidence and I have to look at my carb and clean it ? I hope this info helps but raised more questions in the process of answering you :)

well skinny berg, I really do not want to hear about the "feel of (your) stool" anyway. sounds like you have been watching to much south park...

and if you are having an issue with the feel of your stool you have more than a "air" "in leakage" issue. and jocke we do have a term for that it is called "flatulent" but apparently in skinnybergs case it is more of "incontinence" :)

okay, enough with the silly immature potty talk... it must be really late...

Merry christmas

Hi skinnyberg,

If it didn't do it before you changed the pipe, then I suggest you have some air leaks in the new pipe. You know, where it fits to the head, where the head pipes fit into the mid pipe, and where the mid pipe fits onto the can. All of those joints need to be sealed during assembly. You can't get by just rubbing some on the outside after they are slipped together.

I use ThreeBond 1211.

The only bad thing is having to wait for 2-3 days after using it for it to cure before you start the bike!

Have a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year,

Joe

RE: Re: Flames???

That makes sense for my experience also. As when I did the oil in the air filter I also took off the pipes to get at that leaking starter o-ring I mentioned in here a week or two ago.
