Gazza not sure why your so defensive but I am only stating the obvious....no good hiding the facts.

I miss my berg and the pleasure of owning something different. They truely are great bikes. But I truly do know that it is not a reliable bike for more than 5000kms hard riding.
We ride in sand sand sand and more sand then we ride white sand (like beach).

I now have a 450 of another brand and 6000kms hard riding and so far no money thrown at it except oil, oil filters and airfilters. Chain and Sprockets.

I have had 2 Bergs one needed new rocker arms and cam bearings at 3000kms and new inlet valves at 5000kms (used motorex valve guard every fill and bpultimate)

The second done 5000kms before the big end started to whine and required a rebuild.

I dont see this as whining but being honest. So that others can make informed choices on what there requirements will be for a bike.

To a guy who rides 800kms offroad a year a Berg may last him a long time but for someone like myself who can clock up to 5000kms offroada year it may not seem like a viable option anymore...

look all of what you say is true for your bikes that are now 4 model generations old or older.......IT IS NOT TRUE for the current ones

Like I said how many long distance racing Km's does it take to convince some people, my '07 Safari bike has now 7,000km of rallye racing on it with NO ISSUES and it is going in the Safari again this year !!!

Also last year Brandons '07 Safari bike did the whole event, came 8th outright and had NO ISSUES (can you imagine how many trail/enduro km's the stress of his pace would equate to for an ordinary rider ?? I'd say about 15,000km)

I'm not being defensive, just tired of the same old gloom and doom the sky is falling and if it isnt then it might and how long till it does stuff.....................get over it, its not 2004 anymore

And face facts the new '09 is a blue & white KTM badged as a Husaberg, why should its reliability be any different to any other KTM (ie the same brand as many of the doom sayers are riding anyway!!!)

I just don't get what the buzz anyone get's out of all the doom predictions, is it just to feel good that you may have put off people trying and succeeding where you/others havent ?

Anyhow the miserable can stay miserble, me I cant wait each time to swing my leg over my current Berg's and cant wait even more for my 570 to get here

i am very interested in any aussie late model berg owners with their hours and mileage . i need to see proof that the berg motor can match the other brands for reliability .

aussie owners , how long was it before you had to rebuild it ?

or do we just buy them new keep them short term and sell

see above

Cheers :D
